I am getting ready to sell my equipment trailer, was doing some research to see what the market value is for new and used. Made some calls to dealers pretending to be in the market, they gave me a list price and said it didn't matter, because they had (200-400) unfilled orders to the factory (Covid).

Sooooo.....those of you that track this stuff, is the market value on a lightly used equipment trailer through the roof yet? Is this like campers and full size HD trucks....has the market pushed these prices to damn'd near New costs?

Pretty much near new costs for a 24-26’ gooseneck from what I’ve seen the last few months. Been looking to add one to the fleet so we don’t have to drag the steel deck dual tandem all the time. If it’s not near new, it will be by the time you fix all the bs wrong with some of these used trailers for sale. There are deals to be had but they’re few and far between.

It doesn't change much, trailers hold their value pretty well and people are always asking near new prices for used. Funny you mention campers and trucks though I haven't seen a shortage of either of those yet.

@jeepinmatt is the price expert on tilt trailers, he's obsessed with them

I'll Have to take a pic of the camper dealer near the house. Small outfit, Typically 100 or more campers on the lot...I noticed they had 4 new campers yesterday on the whole lot.

Ford dealer in Kernersville looks like it's going out of business.

Went to eat Mexican the other night and noticed the same thing across the street at Cresent. Literally didn't have a single Super Duty on the lot. A few F-150s, but mostly cars and SUVs.

We were shopping for a camper to hold up in while we worked on a home renovation, decided it was better to rent a place to stay, with the prices being as inflated as they are, and peoples short attention span, when Covid blows over, I suspect the market will be flooded with campers. We didn't want to buy high and sell low, it seemed like a better idea to just spend that money on a real roof over our heads.

With truck prices being so crazy, I was debating selling my Ram....but I JUST got through my checklist to make it rock solid, and it would cost me more than I sell it for, to replace it....

I was surprised @jeepinmatt hasn't chimed in yet....I figured his spidey senses would be tingling at talk of tilt trailer prices!

Campers, Trucks, SxS's, Boats, trailers...they're all about to saturate the market with people who couldn't qualify for the stupid low interest rates and opted for that 90 days no payments. Mostly in the form of repos, but many will be "I just can't afford this". Problem is, they bought high and will be stuck with it because of a flooded market.

Side note: Watch the rental car companies for some STUPID good deals on "used cars" with next to ZERO miles on them in the coming months. Walkertown's new car train depot is slammed full of enterprise rental cars that they didn't utilize #becauserona and need to cycle to the auction centers

Buddy of mine bought a Ram a couple weeks ago. They gave him 5k OVER nada for his 2010 Ram trade-in. They said they couldn't find vehicles.

I'm in the market for a HD truck but will wait until things go back to normal before making my move. Unless something great shows up.

I walked into the dealership at the beginning of June, asked the used car buyer about what he would give me for my truck...that day he said $36k, I walk away. Called back at the end of June, they up their bid to $39k...said we cannot get trucks, and once they are on the lot they sell in a few days.

The trailer market is silly...used trailers for damn near new prices if what you have is in good shape and looks good, I would start at a few hundred under new prices.

Got a quote from Kaufman back at the end of June when I was looking for my GN and their lead time was 5-6 weeks.

Called them back today to get a quote and they're at least 10 weeks out right now.

The dealers I called said they had "no idea" when any of their orders were going to get filled.....one guy said every week they might get a couple of trailers from their outstanding orders.....200+ outstanding orders, and you get "a few a week".....absolutely crazy......I wonder what the long term implications will be to manufacturers practicing FIFO and "Just in time" manufacturing after the world stops freaking out, is it going to be like children from the depression that stock pile everything?

[insert We are the Millers kid]

You Mean You DON'T stockpile everything as it is?

Let's just say I still had several cases of TP left when I finally saw some for sale. And if you didn't hoard ammo after sandyhook, are you even III%?

We have been waiting 4 weeks for a set of replacement drop 3500 dexter axles to fix the trailer at work.

What brand is it? Got any pics?

Sorry for my slow response. I actually had to "work" at work today :flipoff2:

Like others have said, used prices are often within 10% of new. I sold my 9 year old Kaufman 22ft partial tilt 14k wood deck for $4000 within 3hrs of posting on Facebook. Brand new one was $4360 and in stock at the time. By the time you replace tires you're even on price, and the old one would need brakes, bearing, and deck soon
