Transmission flush

nah i knew how to check the dipstick, but i didnt know if there was a certain way, and there was. I have rebuilt cars and engines before, but only dodge. this is my first time working on a foreign car. I rebuilt a 440 six pack and the 3 speed tranny to go with it. Just never have done a foreign car.

If you can do that engine and tranny then you can do this. I recommend using a transmission jack, it will make it easier

Im sorry, and I dont want to come across as an ass, but I have a knack for that...

You asked how to check the transmission fluid; I responded with about a generic answer as possible. Because like so many here we try to offer help to all levels if we can.

But then you reply with I know all about trannys just not this one. it makes you sound like a kid who is ashamed to admit he doesnt know something and wants to seem bigger, more important or more intelligent than he is.

there isnt a 5 gallon bucket worth of cow shit's difference between changing a RWD transmission on just about any vehicle ever made.

It really is as simple as unbolt the old one, and bolt in the new one.

I mean if you need a better overview (honestly you are probably over your head)
1- Unbolt the fly wheel
2- Remove rear Drive Shaft
3- Unbolt the tranny mount
4- Secure a jack under the tranny
5- Disconnect all the linkage, cooler lines and wires
6- Remove the bellhousing bolts
7- Unbolt the cross member
8- lower the jack

Now I may have left out a step, but that should jog the old memory and get you going.

Thank you i appreciate it. I never said i removed a tranny, i said i rebuilt the engine and tranny. I have never removed a tranny before, but i figure if i have directions on how to do it, then i can.

Quit while you are ahead?

Please, please, please inform me, how do you rebuild a tranny without removing it?

As previously suggested, take it back to the rebuilder if there is any remaining warranty. If not, I suggest you:
1) pull the pan and filter and see what you find. What is in the bottom of the pan and on the filter will give you some clues because they both should be clean. Your pan may also have some magnets and they should be clean too.
2) If the first step yields clutch pack debris and metal, the transmission is likely toast and needs a rebuild. Flushing will be a waste of money.

My $0.02

alright, well you know there is such things as uh buying an engine and tranny seperatly then the car. i bought a 1971 dodge challenger r/t, then purchased the 440 six pack and tranny to go along with it.

Im not that big of a dumbass

PLEASE, STOP!
Im trying to be nice.

So you just rebuilt it and sat it on the shelf?
Or did you install it?
If you in fact did install it, then there you go, you know how to R&R a tranny...

Sorry You win, I quit

Good Luck
