"Triple Threat" M&M Off Road Shop Buggy

I built my Dakota thinking the same thing, wheeler/shop truck and something I could drive for a Sunday cruise. Can't beat the full hydro for offroad, but it just plain isn't good on the street. I had the PSC system with return to center, but it never did want to return, and you get absolutely no feedback or resistance so it is very quick steering and easy to overcorrect on the street. I know you are very familar with the hydraulic steering, just giving my $.02 As usual, incredible build and cant wait to see it in action.

Full hydro, with a properly sized system and with correct steering geometry, drives great on any surface.

Just passing through looking at the pretty pictures.

My system was designed by psc, they sent several different pulleys trying to change the pump speed, switched to a different valving in the orbital, and it still drove terrible. I started with factory specs for caster/camber on the Ford front axle, I played around with rotating the pinion angle, toe-in, air pressure in the tires etc and could never get it confident inspiring on the street. Not saying it can't be done, but I am saying it takes alot of tuning and playing around to get it dialed in. Can't really get steering geometry wrong with a double ended ram mounted on the axle lol! I still think my pump was moving too much volume making it move to quickly and be so sensitive.

The reality of it, this probably will see about as much street use as mine (hardly none) and he can get by just like I did, but it's not something I would put my wife driving and feel comfortable with it.

Bad ass build as always, can't wait to see it finished.

If you can tune a full hydro setup to run 100mph in the desert, the street should be easy.

While i would get a nice system if planning this, on my old full hydro setup it was very predictable driving around under 55, but nothing like a factory vehicle.

PJ, the build looks better & better each update.

Dont worry, his wife can drive better than all of us...:flipoff2:

that bell crank system they showing was used on the old flat fender jeeps for years and everyone converted them to a chevy box for better steering so im not sold on that but has anyone looked in to a howell type rack and pinion like they use on late modle race cars it mounts like the hydro the only thing i can see having to work out is when you twist up good the contection from the column to the rack if anyone has done this pls share

Post some better pics of that dash! It's badass!

The full hydro on my toyota works well and its a fork lift orbital tc pump psc single ended 2.5" ram, i wouldnt trust somone else to drive it though.
