Tropical depression Fred

We got about a foot inside the house. Boat washed away… found it about 300 yards from my house hung in a neighbors fence
I am so sorry 😞

Will insurance help? I know floods are a question with coverage.

I don’t know. My dad still owns the house. I’m literally in the process of closing on it which now I assume will be put off for a while. I had some renters but most of the stuff that is damaged furnace and what was given to us so idk what’s gonna happen

We ended up with just over 5”. No real damage I can tell. Will check the driveway a little later. I feel like a putz even mentioning it with your troubles @Loganwayne

Gauge this morning.

That’s a hell of a website
Agreed! I can't remember who with Duke Energy shared it, but I've since sent it to our 24/7 team and anyone who deals with Delivery Point outages or mutual aid. If you do a deep dive some of the gages have an estimate of the $$$ amount of damage caused during flood events.

Sorry to hear about your evacuation & flooding!

@Loganwayne let me know if you need anything. This sucks brother.
Our merry band of misfits asshole friends has already reached out to Logan. We're planning a Wheeling Buddies demo weekend ASAP
He's our whipping boy, but he's one of us.
Just with bigger tits.

Family that lives in the Cruso community which is one of the hardest hit areas of Haywood county said that search crews told them yesterday afternoon that they had found 30 bodies so far. Please pray for everyone affected by this disaster. Going to be a long road to hoe in and around Haywood county.
They got hit insanely hard over there. This side of 276 was as well, but it's so much less densely populated.
Thinking of you guys, buddy

We got 5 in a 20 hour period. We’re on a ridge so no flooding. My creeks got good and cleaned out.

Lost some gravel and a few deep ruts on the easement a good ways from the house. The neighbor’s horse pasture hasn’t had the little ditch cleaned out in years and so the water went over it and ran down my beautiful ABC 2 track 🙄

Guess what I did yesterday…

Cleaned out/reshaped the ditch and fixed the drive with a nice crown.

Praying for all of those lost and those with awful damages.

They've closed Pisgah Natl Forest for the time being , as well as the Parkway. Rain gauges near the Pink Beds read anywhere from 9.5" to 17" of rain. All of that rain had to drain down. Down on one side is Pisgah and Brevard and the other side of the mtn is the Cruso/Bethel/Canton communities.

Got some bad intel possibly. The search teams either told family that they have found 30 dead bodies or family member heard 30 dead bodies instead of 30 missing. Confirmed so far of 2 dead and possibly around 48 still missing.
About an hour ago two helicopters were flying low and slow right above tree tops, looking. Fire fighter said they would probably be doing it 2-3 times a day if possible for at least a week or until all are accounted for

They said cruso got 12”+ in a little over 2 hours

Latest news this evening, is 2 dead, & 30 -35 missing. Mud slides, were horrible. At least 1 side of 40, had to be closed. It may be open now. TERRIBLE!

It’s bad. Miranda’s uncle works for dot. They found a vehicle yesterday afternoon with a whole family in it. Idk if that was in Asheville area or Haywood county.

we’re sad, but so fortunate compared to so many people.

We just got back from driving down 19/23 heading into Canton and areas around Candler. 19/23 is still closed but there is a higher road around the closure and it's a single lane in several areas. The houses up on the hillsides were away from the flooded creeks but the water came down the mountains so fast, those houses were flooded from water running straight through the front door. It looks like a war zone on 19/23. Cruso is still local traffic only and there is a license check to keep non-residents out. I spoke with an Sheriff's deputy and he said that the water in Cruso rose 9 feet in one hour. The folks in the campgrounds were caught in a flash flood and didn't get out in time.

Please send up some prayers for everyone affected by the flooding in Haywood county. Went up to Cruso this morning to help a family member salvage what we could and it's really bad situation. Way worse than I grasped from the news and what people were telling me. It's going to take years for the community to try and recover from if they ever do. Still people missing and recovery crews are hard at work in very unsafe conditions.

This is a family member’s house and property that was flooded with about 6’6” of water as you can see by the water line near the top of the door casing.

If anyone would like to help I’ll post a link to a great organization that has a large presence in the community helping anyone affected. I dropped off a truck load of things needed currently and they are very organized with their efforts.
