VA said I'm 182lbs and have a BMI of 30 yesterday. I asked the doc if I'm ok at that weight and she told me I was just muscular and solid, that I didn't need to get below 175 and it would be hard to lose that weight after it.
What other way would you like to non invasively predict health risk?
BMI is a great way to predict health risk(Ie stroke, diabetes, & a host of others) The correlation is there.
BMI is not a health diagnosis and should never be used as such. Also, should not be used as a determination of overall health.
Height and weight charts should be used as a general guideline not the bottom line. Much more important health assessments that should be used. Cholesterol and blood pressure being among those.
Sounds about like me, though I guess most short guys are also not as uh, big boned. Also, I'm not sure what "grapg oicer 50% body fat" is, but it sounds really bad. I hope you get well soon
I am 6'0 165lbs and a casual gym enthusiast. I can't go more than 3 days without working out in some manner otherwise I feel off, both physically and mentally.
But I did get a large curly fry for lunch, so... yeah.
BMI chart states that I am morbidly obese @ 320 lbs on my 6'7" frame....yes, my belly is round, but blood pressure is low, function 10 -12 hours a work day with out being gassed.
BMI seems to be merely a rough idea....tells me to be around 240. Lowest I have been in many years was 260 on chemo.
I want to be back under 300, say around 290....no mo' mountain dew. Sad face.
