Trying to figure out the right vehicle to purchase..

Doing a bunch of searches on Craigslist and it's a bit concerning So many Durangos have replaced engines before 100k miles. Why is that so common? They are a great fit otherwise in so many regards... But it worries me.

The 4.7s had and issues with sludge. If you weren't diligent with oil changes there were problems. Mainly rod bearings. I would stay away from ANY Durango that didn't come with the hemi. I know fuel mileage will not be so great, but the hemis are nice, pushrod motors and tend to last pretty well. You should be able to find a NICE Durango with relatively low miles for your budget.

Lots of hemi motors from 04 up have a hole in the block before 150k, wouldn't call that lasting well.

Im curious how many transmissions they had before 150k.
By far the worst automatic transmission in the auto industry...

Got a ford, Chevy and jeep in the driveway.

Former company had a bunch of ram and Durango ..think we bought 38 (maybe only 36). Replaced 60 transmissions under warranty. Inside of 2 years.
