Been listening to the police scanner all morning.

2 officers have been shot, no word on their status. They were transported to the local hospital, so they were atleast alive this morning.

No names have been released, but lets hope they pull through who ever it is.

not much talk on the scanner of the officers status.

i work a few blocks from where this happened, the chopper is in the air and the cops are crawling all over the place.

On the scanner they are "detaining" a lot of "witnesses". and i have heard through word of mouth that 3 ambulances left the scene, 2 carrying officers and one carrying a suspect so apparently the officers were atleast able to get some shots off.

There hasnt been any word on whether the officers were responding to a call or just getting breakfast at the wrong place and wrong time.

The area of town is a....well, lets just call it hispanic influenced area. its not the roughest section of town but it is a high crime area.

update on officers coming at 2:30.

officers were responding to a domestic call. chased the husband down peters creek parkway, got in a "scuffle" and the shooting happened during the scuffle.

"both officers are being treated" indicating they are still alive.

I was over at Baptist Hospital when all the comotion started. There must have been 100 officers there as we left.
I called a buddy of mine thats a cop, he said'' Two officers down one perp, six feet down.'' Just glad he was ok.

This is one of my house mates fathers. She said he was going into his second surgery around five this evening. She called me balling... we're both teachers... and when my students asked me what shook me up and i told them... well my day seemed pretty much a blur after that. I am waiting to hear from her as soon as she knows more. Puts things into percpective as he was getting ready for retirement in the next few months....

I work at Bob King Kia right around the corner and it was crazy around there today with all this going on. Someone said that one of the cops died is that true or are both still alive? Will be praying for all the familys and friends

Hope all turns out well. Will keep them in my thoughts and prayers.

Parent's live about 15 minutes South of there and called me last night to tell me...I actually used to get a lot of my parts from the Napa that's right next door to the Bojangles. Praying for the officers and their families.

i believe one officer remains in serious condition and one was moved to stable (from critical).

Just goes to show you what an officer day is like. they never know whats going to happen once they step out of their cars. Next time an officer seems a little bit stern with you remember......in the back of his mind, he is always worrying about a simple job turning into something like this.

Imagine knowing that everyone of your customers had the potential to shoot you.

i'm in no way discounting this situation or leo's, but you realize that statistically speaking there are quite a few other jobs that are far riskier, right? for whatever reason, we as a society never give those people anywhere close to the same amount of attention and respect. even though the services they provide are just as essential to our lives/way of life.

again, not trying to take anything away from the sacrifice these officers and many others have made. the good ones deserve all the appreciation they receive and more. i just think it's important to keep things in perspective and remember all the other people with less than glamorous jobs risking their lives every day providing a service. furthermore, the majority are doing it without guns, bulletproof vests, or any kind of training to handle life/death situations.

I talked to the daughter of the officer that was in critical this morning. He is doing better. But still not that great. It is going to be a long tough road for the entire family but for right now we know he has movement in his fingers and toes, but he is still one a breathing machine and also a feeding machine...

oh..i totally agree, food delivery, taxi drivers, road constructions workers, mail carriers, store clerks, even my job has me on edge at times.

But in this thread, it was two officers who got hurt so i was trying to stay on topic (lol, unusual for me) with them.

Interesting point, and I take no offense by it.. but what sort of jobs are you referring to? LE is one of the few I can think of where the thing that might kill you has the ability to reason and react to its situation, making it that much more dangerous.

There's plenty of dangerous jobs, but for the reason above I think LE has got to be one of the most dangerous.

Very sad news. Thoughts and prayers far his family and to all who knew him.
