i'm in no way discounting this situation or leo's, but you realize that statistically speaking there are quite a few other jobs that are far riskier, right? for whatever reason, we as a society never give those people anywhere close to the same amount of attention and respect......
Interesting point, and I take no offense by it.. but what sort of jobs are you referring to? LE is one of the few I can think of where the thing that might kill you has the ability to reason and react to its situation, making it that much more dangerous.
There's plenty of dangerous jobs, but for the reason above I think LE has got to be one of the most dangerous.
Statistically thinking it is not a matter of opinion.
According to Forbes.com and the Department of Labor statistics, the top 10 most deadly jobs in America are:
1. Fishers and Related Fishing Workers
2. Logging Workers
3. Aircraft Pilots and Flight Engineers
4. Structural Iron and Steel Workers
5. Farmers and ranchers
6. Refuse and Recyclable Material Collectors
7. Roofers
8. Electrical Power-Line Repairers and Installers
9. Drivers:Traveling Sales/Truck Drivers
10. Taxi Drivers/Chauffeurs
