URE 4x4cross OFFICIAL THREAD. - May 9-11

Naah. It just requires a little more throttle, or as I call it" dedication"

I thought it was "commitment" - i.e. "You're just not committed enough"

Dylan, could you confirm the start / ending of the run/race? The reason I am asking, I am thinking of parking at the END of RML where it comes back out the gravel parking lot, because I assume the end of the race/finish line will be in there somewhere?

Basically I "heard" the start will be at Dutch John/Slab Pile entrance to RML?

For us spectator types, would just be nice to know, I am wanting to be on one end or the other, don't think I want to be "Trapped" in the middle all day long...I figure Kodak area will be where most of the folks will be watching.

Decisions Decisions...

Start Line, you get to watch em all start - prob just after the start line - the very first berm or two will be some of the funnest action as folks "air it out!!"

Kodak...well should be fun to watch, but you are pretty much committed to the area for the day (Hey did they decide for sure to cart in some porta pottys to Kodak?)

Finish line (especially if it is at the bottom of that hill) will be exciting to watch, course with breakages you will only get to see a certain % of folks actually come thru... but getting to hang out and talk with the finishers will be fun.

We will start at the double parking lot , go by kodak, and finish at the dirt rd crossing...we wont race accross the rd.I am not sure about the potties at kodak.

So what line is the B-class taking at the ledge before Kodak...straight up the ledge? I don't think there's many options here, either the bypass/slide off the edge or hit the ledge. I'm thinking this might be the place to spectate.

IIRC, B-class is set to zip around the old Kodak bypass on the far left.

Evey class..EXCEPT A..will race up the ledge...before Kodak.

At kodak...A class goes far right by the guard rail
B class goes far left (old bypass)

Both C and D classes will go up the middle, ''The SHUTE'' as I call it.

okay, sorry if this has probably been covered in different forms, i've been trying to search through both threads to find out but here it goes any ways, what trails are 'closed' (officially or unofficially or recommended not to go on during the race) is it just the majority of rockey mountain loop?
the weekend of the race is my best weekend free and i was really hoping to make a trip up there and do some wheeling i could easily stay on dickey bell, falls dam or what ever else is still completely open as to not interfere with the race, and if so do normal day rates apply for trail riding/trail camping?

The rest of the trails will be open that weekend.
Only parts of rockymount loop will be closed, come on up and enjoy the weekend.

so if we are racing we are guranteed a spot to camp and park our truck and trailer @ race or group camp right?

Everyone...on the trails still has to have a 5.00 pass.

Just curious as I've never been to URE before... what are the rules, if any, about alcohol while camping.

No alcohol permitted on federal property. I wouldn't even tempt it with all the reinforcements that will be there!

There will be beer for sale inside festival, but you CANNOT bring your own in.

You can have booze at the campgrounds on the festival side, just not inside the actual vendors, concert, mudpit, rockcrawl arena.

I've yet to receive my tickets at this point and paid at the beggining of april. I've emailed a few people and haven't gotten any responses as of yet. Does anyone have the best email to use for this?? or is there anyone here that can help

****please notice...The (B) class will be the last class to race****

Friday:
• 12 noon, Racing begins with A Class and will continue into C Class as time permits.

Saturday
• Racing begins at 8am for C Class and D Class
• FINAL HEAT for C & D Class: Top 5 of each (Fast Five) after C&D finish.
• 4:30 (aprox) B Class starts after Fast Five of C and D class.

Sunday
• 8am, B Class starts racing till finished

Evey class..EXCEPT A..will race up the ledge...before Kodak.

If it rains I'm screwed.

There’s no doubt about it…
B-Class Stock Modified is going to be THE event to witness!

After the C & D Classes have both had their turn on ‘The Ledge’, rain or shine, it’s gonna be interesting – but if it rains (and I mean, REALLY RAINS, like I’ve seen in Uwharrie several times before), the word Nasty won’t even begin to cover it!

Just a thought, but –[since we’re obviously the ones with the biggest cohunes :p ]– I was thinking it might be cool to have all of the B-Class Teams get together somewhere for a Meet & Greet prior to Sunday’s race…

--- Anyone?

Cheers!

Oops...
I just noticed that B-Class might start racing Saturday afternoon.
(How the hell did I miss that?)

OK -- at the very least, maybe we could all try to show up at the starting/staging area a little early on Saturday (10 or 11-ish, maybe?) to meet the competition, check out each other's rigs, engage in some good-natured smack talk, etc.

Cheers!

Some of us aren't staying at Group Camp... Some of us reserved campsites at Arrowhead waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before G.C. became the Racer's Campground.

No problem though -- G.C. is just down the road.

Cheers!
