Not sure how many of you guys remember me, still interact with some of you guys on the book of faces, but it's been a while since I've even logged on here, but had some time to poke in. The last year or so has been kinda busy, I've bought and sold a house, bought a new condo overlooking the Albemarle Sound, gonna have it sold as of 7/31. Started a new job, couldn't stand the new job, so I quit a few weeks back without anything else on hand. Started a new job a couple days ago. Got out of the aerospace/military armor biz...in to pharmaceuticals now. Oh yeah, rented a few houses out in Nags Head, partied all week and got married in September. Finishing up a 460 build for my Bronco (anyone that knows of a dyno shop that will let me rent out the dyno for the day for tuning, let me know) and then moving on to an 05+ super duty tons swap under it. Got the other rigs up to DD status. Looking to buy/build another house...also buying my very own shop to finally have spot to store and wrench on all my junk. And last but not least, working with Kevin Marti on a Ford licensing deal to be able to reproduce my 1957-1992 Ford literature and Kevin can offer it as another add on to his Marti reports. So...with that and $7 you can get a latte at Starbucks, I assume. I'm back in the Salisbury area, so getting back in to wheeling is definitely on the to do list.

BEN!
Been wondering what the hell happened to you, and how that new job and move out into the country worked out.

The job was pretty god awful...knew a couple months in it just wasn't right, but wanted to stick it out. I likened it to being a new toy they just didn't know how to use. I was constantly met with the 'this is the way we've always done it' routine. My last day on the campus ended with telling my direct bosses I hated my job and they should start looking for my replacement. I was told to go home and cool off. They called me back a couple days later asked if we should just part ways...and I agreed. Took about 6 weeks off, spent a lot of time on the beach drinking bourbon...put out the word I was looking again, and was lucky enough to land back home after a week or two. I had a condo in Edenton...loved the environment, like going home to a beach house every day. Wake up drinking your coffee on the water, and get home just in time to watch the sun set over the water was gorgeous.

your name came up at a quasi nc4x4 get together on raleigh about 2 months back, in a wtf ever happened to that dude

Good to know folks care (or despised) me enough to remember me, haha. Main thing is I dropped all forums and spend most the time with FB groups now...have a couple different ford, engine and offroad groups with about 250,000 members. So that keeps my online time pretty pre-occupied. But like I said, back in the area, all my rigs are almost done...so looking to stop the web wheeling and get back on the trails and enjoy some rides.

Welcome back.... And I thought you were married already.
FYI I think the bronco too is still sitting in GSO if you want it I think it cuould be had do $25 or so

Wow, what a bad cell phone post. It's a bronco top and could be had for about $25 I think.

@Reid ...I was gonna cut it up anyway. If all you need is the glass, that makes my life easier. I'd still give you $20 for it after you pop the glass out.

I'm hoping he wants the opposite, for like forever I've been trying to convince him to make his own chop top. At least lighten it w/ plastic windows

That's what I'm wanting a spare top for...something of this flavor.

Soft top?

Not a real fan of soft tops (especially at the $6-800 price tags), or rolling around without the top off. But for summer cruising wanted some more open air driving. Probably mock up with some clear vinyl or canvas that rolls up or snaps. I prefer the rigidity of retaining the factory frame, but the cut outs for beach/trail riding.

What year is the truck? I have a tan 80-96 one that's probably a whole, whole, whole lot cheaper than that. Just needs a new vinyl rear window to be 100%.

The nice thing about rag tops is you can rub them on things. You can't do that with the fiberglass top, else it quickly turns into fiberglass pieces.

Unless something has changed recently, nobody makes a 78/79 Bronco soft top.

Maybe not anymore, but they used to be readily available.

True but they haven't been made for several years and the 80+ is different, unfortunately. If anybody has a used one for 78/79 I'd be interested in discussing. I guess the market was pretty small.

It did...can't remember off hand who the manufacturer is, but there is one being mass produced again, might be through JBG...but it has an $800 price tag.

It would be for a 79. If it's cheap enough, I could be interested, dimensions are pretty close. And I've also toyed with the idea of using just the outer edges of the top to retain the frame, and create some sorta tube skeleton, and have the top snap to whats left of the original fiberglass.
