V10 Excursion

Came across a really nice 2002 last night on Auto Trader. Only 171k miles no rust looks great. Going to look at it Thursday and if it looks as good in person as it does in pictures it will come home with us.

We have a winner! Found this one in Lenoir. Has 171k miles with only two previous owners. No rust that I could find, clean CarFax, new tires, front seats have some wear but that is to be expected. Overall very happy with the purchase. Got a whopping 11 mpg coming home but fully expected that.

My parents have a v10 excursion they use to tow a horse trailer. They have had no problems with the motor or trans but several issues with the brakes, front auto locking hubs and ball joints. I wish I could be more specific but a shop did the work

I have an 02 Excursion with the 7.3. My brother in law has one with the V10. Both are nice trucks and I would drive either. Even if some people consider the V10 “less reliable” or the 7.3 “ultra reliable” it still costs a crap ton to repair anything on the 7.3. If I found a decent V10 I would jump on it.

Both of our trucks we’ve had to replace ball joints, tie rods, wheel hubs, steering box, blah blah blah ... and leaf springs because excursions get saggy ass real easy due to soft springs on them.

rust would be my biggest concern, then maybe mileage....I will say the stock suspension SUCKS....you can do a v/b code, but hnestly I would just swap in '05+ axles, geared to 4.56 and motor on.
