I am need of getting one of my Krawlers vulcanized. I am needing it done asap. I am in Kernersville, Winston, Greensboro area. Let me know what you all got. Thanks

I know Galloways can do it. That's the closest place to Charlotte that I know. There is also a large truck service in Statesville but I forgot the name.

Gonna bump this up, I am in the same area (Triad) and need to get one of my tires vulcanized, any places local that do it?

Bray's tire in Mt Airy says they can do it. I need to get a Krawler repaired as well and have been meaning to go up there. If you go I've got a tire I'd give you to take, or vice versa...

Jody, I am still interested in your tire, but would rather it be repaired (or at least know that it could be repaired), I think the cut may be too close too the bead though...

Call snider tire in greensboro.

Hey Clay,
We met at GSSE last year but my ZJ was busted. Anyway Tim always uses a home vulcanizing kit and he's patched his 42's MANY times now with great success and despite the labels all over the cans none of us have cancer yet! We've nick-named it Cancer Paste but it's actually this http://www.rematiptop.com/parts.php?sid=15
Tim may have some that's about to expire that he may let you use but I'm not sure if it'd be worth it to bring your junk all the way to Fayettenam to use. PM me if you wanna come down though. We're having a pig pickin this afternoon if you've got nothing to do. That may be worth coming down for itself actually.

Hey man, you going to make it to GSSE this year? I will look into that do it your self kit if I can't find a place local, and I am glad there is no cancer thus far :D Thanks for the invite too, hope you guys had a good time!

Called Snider and they said they don't even touch passenger tires... so Trey, want to PM me the Asheville number?

Sorry man, I meant to comment on that, I still need to call them (long distance from my office so I have to wait to call on my dime). Thanks for the name!

I got tired of waiting on call backs, so I repaired my Krawler myself.

My dealership has a tire repair station that we do high-end tire repairs in. (We're a multi-line dealer with Benz). I talked to our rep today and he set me up with a kit similar to the Rema kit mentioned earlier. I cleaned, ground down th etire, applied the vulcanizing compound, patch and sealer. It's setting up right now in my shop.

I'll check it out tomorrow and test it out this weekend at the Flats.

sorry I didn't check this thread sooner but Bill Walker tire (828-255-8200) on Emma Rd vulcanized a couple tires for me last october.. did a great job.. about $50 a piece IIRC, took him about a week

Yep, sure can.

I used a 4" x 6" radial patch from www.techtirerepairs.com
I used their vulcanizing compound and beadsealer.
I prepped the area with a grinding stone and scraped it as per instructions. Then applied the vulcanizing compound, then applied the patch and rolled it flat with a wheeled tool, let that sit up and covered the repair in bead sealer.

This is how we do tire repairs on $150k Benz's here at work all day long. If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me.

They may not sell to the general public, but most any tire shop will have someone who keeps them supplied with these supplies.

Mine goes through a sidewall lug, will this be a problem?
