me and my buddy are wanting to get CB 's for our rigs. I have a 01 Cherokee and he has a 03 tracker.

Looking at the cobra 75, but don't know a lot about the topic, what else will I need besides the radio? I know ill need an intenna but what else ?Thanks guys.

Why not just buy some FRS radios?
Cheaper, portable, more channels, and more people have them.

I have 4 of them I bring w/ me to group trips to hand out.

I've had Cobra 75s. They're decent radios. Really nice for something you don't want the radio always exposed in, or for something that you don't have a good place to mount a big unit.

The key to any cb is good antenna, proper mounting, and proper tuning.

Fawk a CB!!! Just my .02! I got rid of mine and we now use the Midland X-talker, as stated above cheaper!! Easier to use, and all around way better for the trail!!

If you do get a CB, be sure to get a giant obnoxious whip antenna that everybody can see at the mall and gets stuck on tree limbs whipping all overt he place on the trails. Anything less is just lame.

Baofeng handheld ham transceiver does all of the frs and gmrs and all the ham Chanel's can be had on eBay for under 40 bucks

I was all "CB is the way to go" but two weeks ago me and several friends went to Harlan and just had little hand held walkie talkies. They were way clearer sounding than most any CB I've had in the past, most newer models charge off a mini USB like most cell phone and were great if you got out of the jeep and walked away. They are also cheap.
The biggest plus was they were also handy while towing. There were 4 of us towing down the highway and it was great to have that communication. Don't think I'll be going back to a CB after that.

Am I correct to assume you can receive / transmit to those with CB's using that handheld also?

...but, since it is a type accepted radio for Ham Radio, it is illegal to use the Baofeng (or any other vhf/uhf ) ham radio on FRS, MUIRS, or GMRS.
Not to mention you have to have a license to use it on ham bands.
