What do yall do to keep the water out of the compressor and lines? I drain mine regularly and have a filter/dryer on it but I don't think its set up right. I get very littl vapor out of the filter but plenty out of the drain cock and the end of the hoses.

Inside the tank its just going to happen. It happens worse in our humid months around here. The dryer is more for the lines going out to the tools and equipment.

Auto Drain Timer

Almost every tank I work around has one of these on it and they work great.
This

Short of an actual non-cycling refrigerated air dryer between the compressor and end use

There are several YouTube videos on various methods of making and using a condensing array to dry out the air, some are pretty elaborate, some pretty simple.

How far from the compressor is the filter mounted?

Have always read to have at least 20’ of line off compressor before filter so the air has chance to cool and moisture condense.

I know my Motor Guard filter had a certain distance listed in instructions (I run it right before my plasma).

Real close! lol

Here is my set up in my new shop. It wont stop incoming moist air into the compressor but the hot air coming out hits the cool pipes and condenses the moisture before going into the lines.
