Well Time Warner Cable just sucks!

Direct TV just went up another 15, time to drop it.

You still have to buy internet, and many people are dropping cable and doing the streaming thing. As more people drop cable and satellite, the cost for Internet will go up, and you still have to deal with the providers. No free lunch.

Cut the cord years ago, my internet is 5X's faster and the same price I paid back in 2009. Netflix is like $10, Crackle is free, and if you know what Kodi is you will never go back.

In fifteen years, our internet bill has gone up by about $10. But the speeds we get today are 100x (literally) faster than they were back then.

We haven't had cable in twelve years.

We're still happy w the U-verse............ and if you think being a customer of twc sucks you should try doing contract work for them !:kaioken: FTWC :flipoff:

Who are you guys using for internet service? We have time warner. It is around $60 a month with all the fees and garbage. We use netflix and sling for TV stuff.

We only have AT&T, and can only get DSL, and it's $57/month, and slow. I would gladly pay $75/month for TWCs crappiness because their internet is so much better (and that's judging it off of circa 2011 speeds).

TWC internet here is 35 bucks a month for 50 down/5 up. I may switch to AT&T gigabit for 80 bucks at some point. I have no problems with TWC internet though.

I've owned my own cable modems for a while, which pays for itself in about 15 months at $5/month or whatever the rental fee usually is. Haven't had cable in a while, it's just too expensive and the channels I really want are on the higher dollar packages along with most of all the other shit I don't want. It's just not worth it.

TWC likes to throttle bandwidth at the end of the billing cycle it looks like, from our experiences. Lots of streaming during the month means slower internet at the end of the month.

Up here's it's Comcast, basically same corporate BS.
We only pay them for internet. $30/month.
Sling TV for TV. only $20/month. Great deal. The service is a little flaky but it's awesome having access to bunches of networks from anywhere in the world on any device l-).
Then OTA TV and Netflix etc.

Cutting the cable was the best thing we ever did.

Partially correct. I switched to DSL when I cut the cable and they had a lifetime price guarantee.
The trade off is I only get 12 MB but that's enough to stream on 2 tvs at the same time while browsing the net so other than it may take a while to download large files I don't really care.

I put up an antenna 2 months ago, still have TWC basic internet for $14.99 a month, got my own modem. I really haven't missed cable TV that much, haven't found many things I want to watch that I can't stream from the internet, though with my speeds things can be a bit choppy picture and sound wise. With the money I am saving I can deal with it.

We cut off our satellite (direct TV) about 2 years ago. We got two $20 TV antennas from the Walmart, best thing we ever did. We have Netflix and local TV which is far better than it was when I was a kid. Our internet is through northstate at $35/month.

I get to watch old westerns on one channel, and we can watch In the heat of the night on another. What more do you need? They also play walker Texas ranger every single night.
Win!

We are on charter, they suck.

60 a month after the new customer wears out. So... I put in the wife's name for 2 years, then when not a new customer any more we put in my name. Keeps cable at 40 a month and just internet for streaming..

I'm in the process of switching from Century Link DSL right now. I'm tired of it constantly going out on me (Isn't working right now as a matter of fact). I'm paying them $75 a month for 10Mbps. TWC is offering 50Mbps for $45 a month. We will see how it goes I guess.

Im in the same boat as Matt.
DSL is my only option for internet except I get 5down/.5 up

I really want to cut the cord but the only thing I watch on TV is sports...and I cant find a way to get all my college football without a dish so...I remain a slave.

Time Warner was nice enough to quote constructing us a line. $6500 to go about 700ft. Its still tempting, but 15 years for it to make sense financially.

Sounds like there are a lot of non-cable people here and just stream free stuff online...

For anyone that is considering this, is there a service (or a couple) that provide free TV similar to cable?

We don't have digital cable or anything fancy, but we do have a few select shows and channels we enjoy watching.

I do have the Roku stick but most everything I see costs $1.99 to watch...
