I actually canceled my dish network today. Switched from dsl to twc for $54.99/month ordered sling tv $25/month (added kids channels). Yes i'm going to miss some of my shows, but saving $50/month is nice considering a new baby on the way.
Sounds like there are a lot of non-cable people here and just stream free stuff online...
For anyone that is considering this, is there a service (or a couple) that provide free TV similar to cable?
We don't have digital cable or anything fancy, but we do have a few select shows and channels we enjoy watching.
I do have the Roku stick but most everything I see costs $1.99 to watch...
Sounds like y'all watch too much teevee.

Have you looked at Sling TV w/ the Sports package?Im in the same boat as Matt.
DSL is my only option for internet except I get 5down/.5 up
I really want to cut the cord but the only thing I watch on TV is sports...and I cant find a way to get all my college football without a dish so...I remain a slave.
It's not free, but cheap - This is why we went w/ Sling. The base package includes TNT, TBS, AMC and a few other cable networks that happened to be the ones we watch. You cab a la cart add on other packages too, our kids like the various disney channels so we added that for $5.Sounds like there are a lot of non-cable people here and just stream free stuff online...

Time Warner was nice enough to quote constructing us a line. $6500 to go about 700ft. Its still tempting, but 15 years for it to make sense financially.
anybody tried the amazon fire stick jailbroken?
We did have to "sign up" first so that they could send a guy out and confirm that we were too far away. Kinda dumb, but whatever. At least they gave a quote. Talked with Charter about a 1000' run. Two calls to customer service gave the same answer....they don't give quotes. Just sign up, let them install, and they'll bill for the job. "Ummm, I need a quote, so I can set a budget for construction." "You'll know how much it is after we install it and bill you."
No thanks!
I'm curious about this too. Keep hearing of some friends that have it, can get me one and such. Just not real sure about it. I really only care about The Walking Dead since I'm only up to date with what's on Netflix.
I actually avoid any conversation about the show as to not spoil it for me. I really don't want to wait till September for the next season to hit Netflix.
Find a friend or relative who has cable/satellite and you can watch it free the next day.we watch Walking Dead on amctv.com the day after it airs.
I bought the fire stick. I can get live tv (local channels too) new movies, sports and more. Free!!! Takes alittle to get used to it, but so far it's awesome.I'm curious about this too. When I get home later I'll look on my fire stick and see what all I have. I found a few that really works good. This afternoon I installed Kodi on my HTPC, thinking about picking up a Fire stick to do the conversion and would try it out free thsi way first.
Looks like a crap ton of content, although I'm having soem issues w/ most of the ones that are supposed to stream local broadcast channels.
Notably the resolution/stream quality is no near great.
You can wait for $10/month with Netflix, more $$ for beer and pizza!I'm going to get one of those $150/mo cable plans so I can sit in front of the teevee for four hours every night... just waiting to die.
