That's nice, as I have never looked into mounting a spare. BUT, to go that far, Why didn't they provide a locking nut?

That looks fine for an enclosed trailer, where you can rest the weight on the floor, but that's useless on an open trailer

And it can't slide out the bottom of the mount that is on your trailer. But, it Is hard to see that pin, holding a bouncing tire/wheel combo!

Well if the tire hits the trailer before the nut bottoms out, the nut will also clamp the tire/wheel to the trailer as well. In the first picture, looks like the plate it is mounted to has a lip at the bottom as well.
