What did you do in 2019?

Took 3 trips to the NC coast to hangout with (work for) my Mom (her last year of "firsts" since my Dad passed in Sept. 2018)
After an annual wheeling trip (Jeepster JAM) and a laundry of things needing attention that kept me pissed the entire trip, put the Moss out to pasture until I could devote some serious time to it... and work on step-son's house without feeling guilty (need him out of my basement!)
Spent too much time working (several projects nearing completion after 4+ years, so that felt good)

Earlier this month, closed on a 1500sq/ft shop on 58 acres bordering our initial 30 acres/house

And just last week took off with my BIL & some of his (much older) friends on a combined "bucket list" trip... Wednesday was crab-cakes in Baltimore, Thursday was Gettysburg w/ ride along guide (so awesome, but VERY heavy given death/destruction), Friday was Liberty Bell/Independence Hall/Museum of the American Revolution (also, VERY heavy given the current political discord in the US), and Saturday was attending the Army-Navy game (unbelievable).

And currently spending the week in CLT with my brides family and step-daughters boyfriends family...

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to each of you!

Let's see here...

I broke off an engagement, started dating the same girl again two months later, only to break up again in November.

Worked entirely too much at three jobs.

Booked the trip to KOH for '20.

Sold two trucks, bought a newer one.

Bought a land-based rocket ship, otherwise known as a RZR 1000 Turbo.

Spent way too much money having "professionally" repaired the fuel injection system on my motorcycle, only to have it fail the EXACT SAME WAY a month later.

Rode the same motorcycle between repairs from the east end of Virginia to the west end and back, tackling the Back of the Dragon and western Virginia back roads with only the rear brakes functioning properly (the front brake died around Wytheville on the trip out due to the previous owner mixing brake fluid types).

Forfeited a week's worth of vacation time to be flown to the Bahamas on a disaster relief trip, helping the firefighters of Hope Town. That trip was eye-opening as to the destruction of the storm.

Looking forward to a new year and new challenges!

2019 was a repeated kick directly in the dick to be completely honest. Unexpectedly lost my mom in April, wife broke her ankle in 3 places in June, last remaining grandparent (moms mom) passed away in July and I had to find out about that one on Facebook before I even got a call from a family member. Really struck a nerve as I made a point to call every single person in the family before I even got on my flight home from Texas when my mom passed away. Fall work schedule really whipped my ass.

Hitting the reset button for 2020 for sure.

I got cancer. I didn't die from cancer. I'll call that a win.

Duane

YOU WIN!
Damn good response!

I claim second place for getting my divorce finalized.

Beat that shit you bunch of Kale eating losers...

Merry Christmas from Compton!
'Dre out.

This thread caused me to have some deep thought as I pondered my reply on this slow rainy day. 2019 gave me so many blessings. So many that I’m sure I’ll even forget some significant ones in this.

I went wheeling more this year than the past 5 years combined, some new places as for as Alabama.

Bought a new to me Jeep.

Bought a slide in camper for those trips.

Took my daughter on her first long distance hard core trip.

Made new friends, like real friends, not just buddies. Y’all know who you is.

Helped a good friend kick start his dream to running his own off road shop. He's now booked the first quarter of 2020.

Found a church we are glad to call home!

Celebrated 5 years with my wife.

Grew wayyyy closer with my wife.

Turned 30, still healthy.

Still debt free.

Grew my sales by 12% at work this year.

Lost 25lbs

Gained 35lbs

Fixed @Jody Treadway junk

Drove @Jody Treadway junk.

I laughed. I think I have laughed over good times and great conversation with some of the best people I could surround myself with.

I seen life leave this world and enter this world this year. It has given me new perspective and wisdom. I’ve ended some relationships that needed ending, mended some and grew some. 2019 has been so good I’m almost scared that a big slap in the nuts is eminent, but I’ll hope for the best. As this year winds down I reflect on the many blessings listed above, which are not even half. Thankful for God, the sacrifice He made for me, and the impact that has had on my life.

For anyone that didn’t get to wheel much this year, make 2020 the year you get back out there! Even if it’s only in a passenger seat. I swear the best part of wheeling, happens back at camp. It’s mentally refreshing to say the least!

We quit using our dryer years ago when it suddenly died. I fixed it and 90% of the time my wife still hangs clothes on the line instead.

Built a house. Had a baby. Baby got sick and stayed in the hospital for a month and a half. Baby got better and we came home. Then my grandmother died. 2019 was a roller-coaster of emotions. I look forward to 2020 being a little more even keeled!

Worked my ass off to support my family, been doing that for a while, I'm grateful for a healthy family, can't believe my little boy is 6! The wife finally got a job she enjoys. Trying to enjoy life and do more than just work. Lost my step-father this year, that was very hard on the family, Pop-Pop will be missed, he was also known as "Mr Wizard" in Moorehead City, he loved teaching kids cool science, he did it until almost his 81st birthday. Built some cool vehicles at work, most expensive to date ~$210k on a Jeep (yes it has a hellcat), I hope everyone has had a good year and is looking forward to new challenges and trying to be a kid again!

Been a very eventful year for the wife and I...mostly good with a dose of bad.
Graduated son from NCSU (end of 2018 - December, but I would call it the beginning of the year).
Aged another year in March, I'm 56 now.
Wife and I celebrated 30 year anniversary in April.
Graduated daughter from Auburn Vet School in May.
Same daughter married in June. A local boy from Greensboro....good head on his shoulders.
Wife and I both retired from City of Charlotte in July! Good but this is where the bad comes in. The wife got disability retirement because she was diagnosed with Huntington's Disease, a crappy incurable thing that attacks the brain affecting body, speech and eventually organ coordination. It's a very slow degenerative thing. She is ok right now both mentally and physically although the signs are there. I decided to retire early so we could do the fun things in life together....wheeling, travel trailer camping, sight seeing, sitting on the front porch in the morning and evenings, going to church on Sunday, going to the store in the middle of the day or whenever the crap we want to go. It's been fun so far.

Sorry for the situation, but it sounds like you are taking the right approach to it.
