what gun do you carry CCW

Why do I carry? When I started it was because I could and the law would let me. Later it changed due to the fact that it saved my life a few times the two big ones one siting at the house and a guy tried a B&E I stopped him at gun point, the second was a carjacking and as they blocked my truck opened there van door jumped out and went to open my driver door they stopped with the Glock 10mm at there head and in both cases the cops got them. Did I ever use them? Yes in a way it stopped the crime but no I did not shoot them, it was very close. I still think about it each and every day. As to what I carry? CCW? I carry and live with one gun, a S&W J frame 38 airweight, it is a part of me. There is not a gun of the week for me or carry for this and that. I live breath, think one gun for carry that way there is no second thought on anything about it.

a lightweight wheel gun is on my list as well!

An old AMT 45 is around just not on me.

good point on the extra ammo. I acutally just picked up an extra mag to carry with me. I also just looked at the new bersa .380 for my mother to carry. its a really nice looking gun and feels good in the hand.

I'm thinking of getting an enclosed hammer wheel gun too.
Best thing ever just ask people around me wet, mud, cold, ice, it just plain works every time and it is small, easy, no safety, clips, anything. Just pick it pull the trigger and it goes bang.....
Easy for the wife if needed.
Think I need to head to the range Friday after all this talk.....

I've got a Bersa .380 Thunder that I've fired maybe 20 rounds through and is back in the box. I bought it for my wife, but she just doesn't care for guns. I prefer revolvers, no risk of jamming.

Chief Special alloy with hollow base wad cutters loaded backwards. Hits like a hammer because the soft wadcutter 38 rapidly expands.

In the truck, 6" 41 Mag...hand loaded to my preference. Ithica pump 12ga with lots of 3" #4 and slug rounds.

If someone is looking for a good CCW...check out the new Smith and Wesson Sigma series...they are doing a rebate right now where its $30 cash back or 2 extra clips. Looked at one today for only $329.

On and off duty Smith&Wesson 99 40 cal.
On another note. How many of you carry extra rounds with you when you are out and about? You are only in the fight as long as you have ammo. It only takes acouple of seconds to empty your weapon in a critical shooting incident and if you encounter multiple advesaries (ie gang members) you may need extra ammo to save your live or your friends and families lives.

G22.
never gave much thought to extra rounds.

maybe its like the movie's and i can shoot forever on one mag:rolleyes:

Most of the time it's a Star Firestar .40
other times it can be a S&W Mod 681 .357 or a Charter Arms Pug snubbie .357
and usually one extra speedloader or clip

I know what your talking about with your hand loads but you may want to talk to some of the people in the NRA or people that teach the CCW classes, always use a stock gun and factory ammo, if you ever need to use it your ass will be on the line in more ways then one, and the last thing you need in court it them holding your gun and ammo up and then say you were not happy with a normal gun or normal ammo you needed to build something like this that is a real killer and ammo loaded backwards that rips people up.......
BTW ever used that ammo on glass or a car door, I bet not or you would not be using it today. Give it a try in a car comming at you or a side shot. They know that as a dumb dumb it works good for in a house and on small critters. They loaded it that way to get the bullet to flatten out fast and stop in its tracks, good to put a deer down that is still kicking. Load it at 700 fps it will stop in sheet rock and light wood. I know you say it hits like a hammer but it has the (148gr) mass but only (800fps)Vel to get its energy. You would be better with a
(110gr) mass and (1134fps) Vel for energy up. The NCHP when using wheel guns went to a 110 gr 357 just to get what they wanted for glass head on and car doors. As I sit in my loading room I look at the dies I'm loading 50+ different cartridges but still carry factory.
Please think about it and look into factory ammo for carry.

Used to carry it not anymore, it stays beside the bedside now

BURGLARS BE WARE

single shot .50 caliber Thompson Center pistol, It is scoped, and will put a hole in something the size of a Basketball

they do not make them anymore

or it might put a hole in the wall the size of a cheeseburger if you miss:flipoff2: then all you got is a hammer with a scope on it!

as an old friend of mine that is a BLET instructor once said:
"if there is lead in the air there is hope in the heart" defend yourself

wow, single shot? like he said, hope you have good aim or there is only one of them or all you have left after the shot is a real pretty baseball bat with a scope. I would like to see one of those guns. i've never heard of them before.

I drive a rollback for a living and it is a 24-7 job. You never know what hour of day or night or who or where you will meet or go so I took the CCW class and carry a Taurus Millennium PT-111 Pro 9mm

On the CCW note what do you guys think of someone under the age of 21 carrying a hand gun. So the story goes I'm not 21 I don't the constitonal right to "bare arms" and defend myself. Just a thought

don't get busted, it will bite you in the ass and you wot be able to carry at all, or not at all if they throw the book at you. I had to wait and it was not that bad...

Winter - Ruger 101 in .357Mag or Glock 30 in .45ACP

Spring/Fall - Kahr P9 9mm or P40 .40S&W

Summer - Kahr Micro PM9 9mm or an S&W Airweight in .38
