What is going on with Amtrak?

Seems every time I read the news they have derailed or wrecked another train! They hit a parked train this morning...a parked train!

it's like the third wreck in 6-7 weeks.

What's going on in the culture at that company that makes them so careless! 6 dead and over 200 injured since December.
 
I guess that Amtrak design is to be aerodynamic & light weight. But it Sure wasn't a match to the Freight Engines! Look like the Amtrak went nearly over the top of the Freight Engines!:eek:
 
saw on the news this morning that amtrak says csx had the switch padlocked and "forced" their train onto the line with the parked train. apparently csx is responsible for the tracks and switches in the area.

It's that whole Amtrak/ Tesla joint venture.

They are on the same lines and CSX is responsible, but I call BS on the "forced" excuse. Years ago I took a train to Baltimore to see this guy I was dating and the train was forced to stop in the middle of nowhere near Ashland, Va, because a thunderstorm in Florida knocked out the tracking system and they couldn't risk not knowing where there was another train on the tracks. We sat there for hours with no idea what was going on bc the train personnel were awful but we didn't wreck, I guess, and I eventually made it there with a hefty voucher for my troubles (had already planned on taking a flight home).

If it was 'advanced' enough then to call a full stop, I can't imagine they don't know where everything is in the tracks now. Somebody effed up.
 
Most of the interest is still on the Switch, But Conflicting. This morning some inspector said they tested the Switch, & Nothing is wrong. This evening, another report blamed CSX, for leaving the Switch locked into the Side Rail line, after parking the Freight Train. To make it Worse, there were some Electric signal problems, & the signal was taken off-line. The New Signal, that was off-line, was the New one that's Suppose to Prevent any Head-on Collisions. O-Boy!:popcorn:
