what is going on with my welder, help

Well you were right, the 142 is the complementary to the 147.

Plus, this. Century | Search Results | Joe The Welder

That's a very good point. I didn't think to look it up as the complement to the TIP147.

Outstanding work, everything points to that being a TIP142 from the other schematics. I'll have to poke around later today and make a shopping list for John if he wants to fix it or have it fixed.

Can I please mail this board to you and pay you. Holy cow you and Braxton know your stuff, you guys are awesome.

A new board is 247 so I don't mind paying you to fix this one to make sure that that is the problem before investing money in a new board for that amount. Let me know. Thanks a bunch. I've had no luck so far finding a local place and James oxygen welding charges $150 an hour so that's definitely a no no.
Despite the welder being old I really want to fix it cuz i haveh$250 in it and it worked awesome and I've actually read up that it's a pretty good welder along with the snap on and Matco ones of those year models and it's very simple, once this board is fixed not much else that's costly can go wrong.

That little black diode below the TIP147 is the other part that blew. Should the TIP 147 be replaced also. Thanks again everyone. I'm more than willing to pay anyone fair price who can do the soldering. Just let me know

Ok got the board fixed, wire feed is back to normal (not going all haywire) and works with trigger ... BUT
Only for few seconds then stops cause of the same sound coming from rear of the unit somewhere..like little clicks then big huge noise that rumbles the whole welder like the noise when you touch the lead to the piece your welding. So anyone can help point me in a direction..this is all that's in the rear of machine.

The whole welder consists of 3 transformers, the board, gas valve, fan , 2 ballast looking things, the power relay thing and 4 big capacitors.
Thanks for any help yall

Those 2 things in the first picture above the fan motor...is one on the left burned?

Is the fan even coming on? It could be the fan motor locking up and humming.
