What kind of Bike?

I'l go one better

Extend the SWINGARM but add a 300 series tire so that you have to offset the chain :shaking:

.and i DON"T want a gsxr....to big of a bike for me.

Ummm OK, but HERE you're asking for a CBR or R6

There is VERY little difference in a R6 a CBR and a GSXR. Not enough of one that a newbie would ever know anyways.

You asked for advice so here's more

Look for a Yamaha 600R NOT an R6 HUGE difference

Yamaha 600R

Comes with about 90 HP

Yamaha R6

Comes with around 130 HP depending on the year

No 40HP doesn't sound like a great deal. But on a 300lb motorcycle it's like adding a turbo AND nitrous

As far as a honda CBR. If you're looking at a pre-99 cbr600, you're around the same HP as the 600R yamaha and you'll be safer. Anything after that and your starting to get closer to the R6 and further from anything resembling a decent "starter bike"

You're GOING to drop this bike. Just go ahead and resolve yourself to that. f you scoff at that statement, let me tell ya......I had been riding for 12 years before my first sportbike, and I bought new KNOWING good and well I had enough exprience and common sense NOT to let that happen.

Well....reality had a little bit different outcome than I had planned. A tiny bit of sand at an intersection brought me and the pavement to a relationship I'd not previously had the pleasure of having before that moment.

Small scratch.....noone else EVER saw it, but I knew it was there. Pissed me off something terrible.

Personally, I'd buy a VERY common bike that has enough parts sources to replace ALL the fairings for under $400 (97/98 smokin joe CBR 600 F3 strangely enough) just for the ease of replacing parts (just a start)

when i talked about the gsxr...im talking bout the 1000. A friend of mine has the bike and its too big for him, hes been riding for a long time..but it will prolly be till the end of the summer before i get one.

to speak to what Rich/Troy were talking about, read a great article a few years ago about a sports bike "school" and the guys that showed up including the famous motorcycle reviewer guy writing the article.

Everyone was on the 600-1100 sport bikes, gobs of power, etc. Young "punk" kid is there on a ninja 250 and they are giving him a hard time etc.

They go thru the weekend of learning/instruction etc and out there playing getting some track time...one problem. They cannot lose the 250...in fact he is eating them ALIVE, the only place they see any distance is small straight aways but by the end of the curve he is back with them and beating them.

Moral of the article/instructors comments was the guy on the 250 was not "scared" of the bike and was really able to absorb the lessons. He was driving the bike, not the bike driving him....

Just food for thought on Troy/others comments...and whether you want just a fun time kinda deal or really learn.

(I am first to admit, just a fun time for me..I took MSF..and looking at the advanced course from them this summer..safety is my #1, not speed/slicin up the track/corners)

i totally agree with ya sam. safety is my number one priority and no im not gonna be going 130 mph at all. Point is, there is no way that i could fit on a 250, too small for me, and i would not feel comfortable driving that bike, so there are 500s or 600s out there and i feel that a good 600cc bike is the way i need to go.

How tall are you? I am 6'6, and the Bandit 600 is somewhat cramped for me 'I think', I have bever even sat on a larger bike so I couldn't really tell you though. It still is not bad, and is very comfortable, but I feel like a larger bike might give more legroom possibly.

I already feel this bike is lacking in the acceleration category, but I know that for what I bought it for that is fine, it seems to handle good to ME, but again, without ever riding another bike I wouldn't know the difference. I can see myself getting something bigger in a couple years, maybe sooner, almost wish I had a bigger one now, but I don't want more than I can handle, and even the 75 HP this bike has could get away from me if I let it.
