Just wondering, I haven't seen one like that before. Kinda neat looking.

Still made the same kinda splat on the ground after I hit him with brake clearner and a size 12 though..

Around here, they're called writing spiders because of the zig-zag patterns in the center of their web. When I was a kid, the rumor was that if he wrote your first initial in the web, and you saw it, you would die.

yeah i know them as writing spiders..

I hate spiders, but seriously don't kill this one, they are good for your house, garden, and kinda cool to look at, they get huge! and they usually hang around the same place for years

not cool. My wife gets back this morning, and asks about the exact same spider.

Kind of amusing though, I'd never seen one before, course I tend to just kill em and then they all look kind of the same as a squished blob?

ya had one 2 years ago, kept building from my light post to the house. I almost walked into it 4-5 times in the morning. FINALLY he/she got the hint and made the web from the post to a shrub... ANd it got big and elaborate, one of the coolest webs I had seen in some time.. Z ZZZ zig zags and stuff..

oh ya this was pre-wife or I would have been authorized for immediate destruction...

:bronco:i would have put it in your jeep or yota so bugs would have gotten in it while you where waiting on a chevy to pull u loose lol

Yet another fine example of English from a Chevy fan. :fuck-you:

Rich never met a "harmless" spider. You should see how fast he can get out from under a jeep when a Daddy Long Legs crawls under there with him.

We had one on our porch a good 5 years ago that got to be about 4-5 inches from one end to the other. We've got another one building a web on our porch now that's only about 2 or 3 inches. They're really cool to watch, especially when you put a bug into their web. They oscillate the web back and forth to entangle the bug more.

Yeah,Thats a writing spider, where i come from. I have also heard the "if you see your initial, you will die'' thing. So i kill em all before they learn my name!;)

I've had one in the bushes like that for three or four days now been feeding him/her crickets cool to watch them kill & eat

chevy drivers do not have alot of free time spend it driving
i wish i had a yota then it would have been broke alot more so i would have spent more timein school then drivein a chevy :fuck-you:
Like a Chevy guy has any thing to EVER say about being broke down. Everyone here know the option to get with a chevy is a dog so you don't have to walk alone! Chevy drivers don't spend time driving cause they're always fixing their chit!:fuck-you:

So, like, if you see em writing yer initials, and you destroy the web before its finished, are ya safe? Maybe you only get a superficial wound, something like that?

This might also explain why there arent many people with the initials Z.Z.Z.!!

They are officially called Garden Spiders. We just call them Writin' Spiders.
Yep. Didn't know they had any names other than Writin Spiders. I had two of em on my deck a few months back. One was over 2" span, really impressive.
