I have a van 60 in my tj. Found it at the junk yard for cheap with disc brakes and big bore spindles. Called chase, got 35 spline shafts and sweet ass ecgs flanges. Unshaved on 37 it drags a bit but i have yet to violently cuss at it. 100" wb with 21.5"(iirc) driveshaft and no bad vibes.

9 inch is fine if you build it with nodular 3rd and a fabricated housing. otherwise leave them at the junkyard. youll have to build it full float to get 8 lug. lot of money to spend for no reason. going to be real close to the same strength as a 60.
D60 find big bore and run 35 spline shafts. Cheapest best method
14 bolt good.......... heavy very poor ground clearence but cheapp and nearly indestructable
d70, sterlings need to be left at the scrap yard
we can buid both front and rear axles bolt in for your TJ.

Whats wrong with the d70 that it needs to be left at the junk yard?

heavy, limited aftermarket support, no spools well we have but the $500, no 5.38's avialable, detroits are more costly, bearing kits are more costly gears are more costly ect. typically very wide. i just dont see them as the best option.

Sounds like a 60 will be the best set up for me...Even if I dump $2500 in a 9" it still wont be as strong as a 60 and if I dump $2500 into a 60 it will be the last axle I will ever need...Seems like a pretty easy choice to me...Def gunna shave what ever I get...I think I will start reading about offset rears...Does anyone else run a off set rear in a short wheel base rig?

Do you have any pics of how everything lines up?

While you're at it, you could put an offset Atlas and not have to worry about the axle offset in the short wheelbase. A Dana 20 might be a cheap option, but I'm not sure if the t-case/tranny mounting is the same.

I think I will try my luck with hoping the stretch will take out most of the vibes...If not I will see if I can dig up the cash for a atlas

i don't have any experience with 60's, but for a 36 in tire that would be aired down, it would seem you would drag that hog's head over everything!
IMO 9in, build it up and wheel it.

A D60 from a J20 with a Quadratrac TC will have an offset diff. They are typically pretty cheap. I don't know the width you are looking for but would think it would compare to the D44 from the F250 you are using.

An offset diff doesn't matter. the driveshaft doesn't know the difference between the angles wether its off to the side or not. Guys have been running them like that for years without issue. If I could find an offset 14 bolt I'd do it in a heartbeat

what ford vans do those offset d60s come in? those big stalker/work vans?
RHSCTJ Pulled his from an E350 which look like one of the windowless stalker vans...I think he wrote that he pulled his from a 2000...I dont know what the cut off is tho because I found a 87 and 89 E350 at pull-a-part in columbia thinking about running over there and taking a look to see what is under there.

Mine is a 2000 e350 but i dont think having it offset 3" does much for ground clearence

I have a set of 35 spline axles shafts for the big offset axles that are new fs......
