Planning on removing the carpet in the jeep. What does everyone use on the interior after the carpet is removed (i.e. roll on bedliner, lizard skin, etc.)?

Looking to keep heat and sound out, and just planning on doing the floor pans, not the headliner, etc.

So what do you recommend or not recommend?

Wearing a helmet really helps dampen the racket in my ECORS rig :driver:
I left the headliner in this years version, to maybe help keep heat out. I can't tell if it made any difference, it was still wicked hot in the summer.

I'd use some sort of roll on bed liner, I used the oil based stuff you can get at walmart in the gallon tub. It worked ok but doesent have enough grit and it def doesnt really cut down on sound but 4runners have paper thin sheet metal. I dont really know what to use but I will say mix it up well and prep the surface really good. Also do it outside then roll it in to a garage or somewhere with heat because it takes a while to dry sometimes.

i like the herculiner on the inside, plenty of grit and cheap, i put it on thick did great for the $$$

I used Herculiner...most of the work is used stripping and priming the surface. Turned out AMAZING! Kit is about $89 at Advance...but they have a coupon online (or did) to save $35 on an $85 purchase...so ended up costing around $54...then spent another $10 on acetone and some scouring pads.

Here are some pics of the process:

Well it looks like DIY bedliner is the way to go.

Leave the headliner, it will drop the temps inside the jeep more than you may think....

I actually had GREAT results with Durabak. Comes in colors.

I considered durabak when I was thinking about painting my exterior with it. It might be perfect for the interior.

I was surprised how easy it went on and worked. I really liked the stuff. Held up great to trees too....actually would pull the bark off before it came off the sides

I have heard really good things about monstaliner, comes in colors, and there are tons on jeep forums that have used it. You don't have to spray it if you don't want to. It is actually made to be rolled, but can be sprayed.
