What type of MPG are you getting?

99 xj 4.0 auto ~ 16-17mpg, normal driving
~18-20mpg, driving like a grandma w/ mostly highway driving

'97 Camry I4 = 28 city/37 highway

No kidding? 37 hwy? Dang.

I think both my DD's (Tahoe and Dodge) get around 15mpg during my typical driving cycle.

I am suprised at how bad the dodge trucks with 5.9l are. I know dodge V8's are bad in general, but dang. My Viper V10 gets better mpg than some of your 5.9's.

'03 Chevy 2500 crewcab w/ Duramax.

Once diesel headed for $4 I decided to change my driving habits drastically.

Besides trying to run at 1800 rpm +/- I blocked off the radiator so I would run a little hotter to burn more efficiently (210-215F instead of 180-190F) and also ran the tires up to 80psi (load range E) to reduce rolling resistance. I have a tonneau cover out back that also helps IMO.

Results: So far I am pleased. I got about 26mpg on the highway Raleigh to Charlotte and back and I am getting about 22mpg all around on the last two tank fulls. Before that I was getting 17mpg all around and if I got 20 on the highway I was happy.

That is all.
