I’ve had this MKZ for a decade. Has 203k on the odo. I donated a Ford Edge a few years ago with cosmetic damage, but repaired it with JY parts so it could pass inspection. This car, however…front end is very crunchy…joints/bearings/arms all need to be replaced. Engine/trans mounts are trash. Both front door motors are trash, driver window is misaligned. So I really don’t want to donate a piece of shit that will cost more in parts to make acceptable, than just finding a better one on FB marketplace. I’d scrap it, but still seems to run too doggon well, aside from negligent maintenance. I really don’t think MKZ’s are lighting up the project car market either. I could do a tannerite send off too…but again, feels like someone could use it, just not sure who. So if there are any ‘Fix it Forward’ programs or high school/tech school auto classes that could use it…I’d be willing. And if this needs to be in Bartertown or Freebies, admin please move.

Seriously... Donate to FD. Mom's car was tired... Needed everything rubber, and electric motor related but had like 150k

Old ass mercury sable. Worth a whopping $600

Sent her down the road to the FD for training

Sweet…didn’t know that was a thing and why I asked. But I’m still interested in hearing Phillips idea…which I assume will involve rocks…ya know, for scientific purposes.

Does that have the air bag suspension? And my cousin teaches mechanical/diesel mechanics at a local trade school and they’re always looking for fine junk to play and teach with, especially with newer stuff with electronics. I can check and see. It can be used as a write off and I can probably make sure it’s well valued.

If it has bags, pump them up and Baja the hell out of it…for integrity testing and such.

Demolition derby, or I’ve always had a dream about wrecking a piece of shit and leaving it in somebody’s yard pull the vin and tag roll on

Caraway Speedway in Asheboro has one or two special events a year where they have trailer races, tire races, demo derby, etc. Basically people bring out regular cars/vans/SUVs and have a blast racing them and destroying them. I've been wanting to join in for a few years but never seem to have a beater car at the right time. I'm sure other tracks have similar events. Then the fire department can practice on what's left.

this, then donated to a tech school as a demo / teaching tool or fire practice.

But before that, report it stolen, then use it for donuts in @jeepinmatt 's yard and leave it.
Let him drive in the derby as compensation.

My family donated several vehicles to the local Fire Department for training...even saw staged crashes with the roofs peeled up.

On a parallel note, what's a car that size bringing in at a junkyard currently?

Paging @1-tonmudder

I wouldn’t imagine more than $400…worth more to me wrecked or donated.
Yeah, I'm with that sentiment. Typically when I part with something, one of two things will happen:
I'll enjoy the pleasure of seeing it crushed or seeing someone use it and love it. There really is no in between.
I'm just curious about current scrap value. I keep an on those things.
Says the guy with 1k+# of aluminum cans stockpiled for special occasions. 😉
