What would YOU do?

I know others have had similar situations but this is a first for me, I'll be general in the details so as not to fan the flames. So what would you do? I respond to an add on a forum for "YJ springs" I look at the photo of two springs laying on their side. I ask if he will ship ? we haggle on price and I Paypal him the agreed amount. Seller ships quickly and I have them in 2 days, I pop out the old bushings and hit them with the rattle can. Couple days later I go to put in the new bushings and realize that not only will the bushings diameter not fit, but the spring is only 2" wide ! I contact seller and explain that these are CJ springs not YJ and I think a refund is in order. SILENCE........ Seller has not responded. I'll be the first to go with " I should have asked for a measurement" but they were advertised as YJ springs, and having owned 3 YJ's and a CJ and going on his screen name which indicated a certain "fanaticism" shall we say? with Jeeps, I thought I was safe. So my question is......what would ya'll do at this point ?
 
Try to contact him again, if still no answer, torch him, bad seller. Big difference between 2 and 2.5" springs... I sure wouldnt want to run the cj springs.
 
/\ Agree, try to contact him within a reasonable amount of time and by any means available to you, then if he doesn't respond, expose him. Business is business and this sounds like bad business.
 
Hunt him down & beat him the main leaf of the cj pack until he can read a tape measure. Then go look in the mirror and ask why didn't I ask for a measurement. Begin to hit yourself with said main leaf.

Yeah, should have asked for a measurement, I thought EVERYONE knew YJ leaves are 2 1/2" Guy responded when I told him they were wrong but as soon as I said refund he clammed up!
 
public shame might get your money back, or some action on his part. Research his username, find all the other forums he posts on, google his name, address, phone number. Calling and actually speaking to him, or his family members might get some results too (I once called and got what sounded like some kids mother). Don't burn any bridges quite yet, you still have hope of getting something done. Of course if he is just a scammer, you're screwed.
 
I think you are screwed.

Make every attempt to contact him and make it right. I don't know what a PayPal claim takes, but do not let too much time go by.If he continues to remain silent, expose the sucker for the scammer he is so others won't fall victim to his lies.

Sounds like he knows he is wrong and hopes you will go away. Become a thorn in his side.

Was there a return address on the package?
 
Send him a message/email explaining the situation. He can send you your $$$ back 100%. Otherwise you could sell them and try to get most of your $ back, then fight with him to get the difference. You do have a product even if its not the one you want. So, you could always sell the springs and get most if not all of your $ back. Then haggle over the difference, if any.
 
He replied today with "I'm very sorry, I never give refunds on sales", I truly hate it didnt work for your setup but there is nothing I can do"..............

He's had his chance to do the right thing the easy way. It's time to make this punk's info public. He advertised the springs as something they are not. Post up his name, address, anything you've got on him.

Sounds like he just doesn't care and isn't going to do anything about it.

His fault, he should've known the part he was selling. He might eat a little money getting it refunded but it shows he's a standup dude. Now he's looking like a d***.

Post his info. People on this site need to know so they don't do business with him. Can't be trusted.
 
please post up his name and info so that non of the rest of us have this issue. how much are you out?
 
I'm not a Jeep guy but assume YJ springs might be more expensive than CJ springs in similar condition? If so, c is nowhere near y on my keyboard and the guys either broke and spent your money already, or he's a scammer, or just a (fill in the blank w descriptive insult)
 
CJ rears are 2.5" wide, all YJ springs are 2.5" wide, they are almost identical dimemsions, and could possibly be only one year apart (1986CJ vs 87YJ)...that would be an acceptable "screwup". What he did, and more importantly his reply of never giving refunds and owning up to it is pure dooshbagerry. He's had his chance to make it right, time post up his info.

For all those that have only gotten this Jackass' side of the story, let me shed some light on it! My name is Josh and I'm from Troy for all of you illiterate fucks! First of all, He got these springs the next day and was happy with them. I never heard anything back from him for a couple of days! After Painting them he tells me they were not what he was looking for! He's owned 3 YJ's & a CJ...Hell he should be the damn Jeep expert right?? It's the buyers job to ask all the questions & request more pics. He's suppose to know what he's looking for and what he needs! When I'm shopping for something I know what it looks like inside and out! It's not my place to know what he needs or wants! I told him what I knew and he knew that up front! If you bought an item from the store and you got it home and painted it or whatever and then realized that it didn't fit or work, that store wouldn't take it back either! All we know is that he painted the springs...we don't know what else he has done to them! Hell the dumbass thinks that just b/c my forum name is JeepFreak that I know all there is to know about Jeeps! Fucking idiot it's just a damn name I picked when I signed up! I don't know any other way to dumb this down for you so oh well. I thought this was common sense but apparently that didn't get around to some of you! I'm doing myself a solid by not buying or selling on this forum anymore! INS...Really????? Damn Idiots!! I really wish one of ya'll dumb mother fuckers would try and beat me with something!
