What would YOU do?

"My question is did you advertise the springs as YJ springs?" He certainly did, Just wish I had his original post. I'm sure if they wanted to the mods could find it. "Pls delete my account immediately" speaks volumes ! Yes I took the liberty of sanding and painting the wrong springs in my hurry to get as much done on my project before knee surgery as possible. Should I have noticed that they were a 1/2" narrower than they should be? Yup I should have. Should he have advertised FRONT YJ springs when thats not what he had? I don't think so. Obviously I will not be getting my money back and thats fine, I'm not going to try and force People to do the right thing. I have had dealings with multiple people on this forum including some who replied to this post and have never had anything but a positive experience. Hope Ya'll have a nice day..................

That's kinda harsh. Hoop's posts were all pretty calm and he was just asking what other people would do. Sounds like somebody got a little sand trapped.

This.

I just sold a set of axles to a guy for a Grand Prix. I had bought them and they were in my garage for a year and I sent them to him without ever looking at them. When they got there guess what, one was wrong. I have no idea what it was for, someone had sold me the wrong one. Did I tell him I was selling him something that it wasn't? Sure as hell did. Was it my fault? Sure as hell was. Did I give him a refund? SURE AS HELL DID!

If they were advertised as YJ springs and they ended up NOT being YJ springs, the SELLER is a fault regardless if the buyer painted the springs or not. If anything, that increased the value and resale!

As to a commend about a store not taking something back after its painted, well thats just absurd! I have bought plywood before for use in the garage. I bought a certain thickness based on what the store told me. I never measured it as they specifically had the thickness listed. I got home, cut it up, and went to put it up and it didn't match the existing plywood that was supposedly the same thickness. I measured it and sure enough, the new plywood was mis-labeled. The store accepted the return on the cut up and mis labeled plywood! Its called integrity! As a matter of fact, the store would have been in violation of the UCC had they not taken it back. Too bad individuals aren't held to the same standard!

Please let us know who this fool is.

When I first saw this post, I did a search, like anyone could. I found the springs still listed It did say YJ springs.
Seems that post is gone, but found another
http://www.nc4x4.com/forum/index.php?threads/barter.132895/
Still says 3 1/2" YJ springs $125.00

After reading his reply, it is my opinion he is wrong. If you say YJ springs, then they should be YJ springs. easy as that.
I am sure he didn't sell them knowing they were not YJ springs. Evidently he had never had them on a YJ. Somewhere he got them, and was told they were YJ springs. So a mistake has been made. Painting them did not hurt the value, as has already been stated. So, seller, if you want to be a stand up guy, refund the money, apologize, and let's go on with life.
or
do nothing, and you will long be known as that guy who was an asshat and sold something that was not what it was supposed to be.
not always easy to admit you are wrong, but this is what a man would do.

"What I would do" is buy the springs back, and sell them to someone who can actually use them. It's called integrity and most adults possess this trait. It does sometimes require you to admit you were wrong or at fault somehow, but some have trouble w this concept.

This guy lives down the street from biggoofy and I. It's a shame that he didn't realize what he's getting himself into. Obviously when you sell something, you need to list the correct part, as that is the sellers responsibility. He's not going to do anything about it, I'd still file something with PayPal because this is just ridiculous. Any store would accept a refund regardless of the state it's in, it was their fault so they will take responsibility. List things correctly and this doesn't happen.

Ok I have sold and purchased allot on here and other forums . First of all I will question the buy in exactly what they are looking for and I will also give dimensions when selling spring ,axles ,wheels , or anything that needs a proper sizes for fitment . Also I will pretty much tell you when you buy it it is as is where is unless I say differently on certain objects .If for some reason your item does not fit when you purchase it yes I will give a refund if it is under 30 days if you come to me 2 months afterwards and say it does not work I am sorry you own it .

Well since it sounds like he is going to do nothing I would dispute the transaction through PayPal. I believe you can even though you got it but it was not advertised correctly

It's a shame the guy can't man up on this. We all make mistakes and hopefully we all learn from them and do'nt repeat them. I do'nt think there is ever a bad time to admit fault and try to make things right. If someone told him, and the seller thought they were YJ springs, that should'nt be hoops problem now.

You might have missed his post that he didn't send the money as being for a product/service, but instead sent it free of charge as a gift. Only way to get a refund is if dbag decides to give a refund.

I thought I was the only one who could read. Glad to see there are at least 2 of us.

I have always tried to be a decent guy with everyone on here, I know Paypal hits the seller for a fee so if your shipping me a part because I live on the godforsaken coast, I usually hit "send to a friend" so you actually get all yer money. Oh well, lesson learned!

I now have some questions for you?
1. You want a refund because this guy sold you the wrong product with out you thoroughly doing your research or him not knowing what he had exactly ?
2.Why don't you relist them as restored /rebuilt and recoup your money if he failed to give you a refund ?

As I stated @ the beginning, I take some of the blame for not asking more questions, I made the foolish assumption (we ALL know what happens when you assume! ) that the seller knew what he had. I was in a bit of a hurry to get some big items out of the way before knee surgery and front lift springs were on my list so there was probably some normal caution that got thrown to the wind. I thought that the decent thing to do would be refund my cash, as others here seemed to agree. The seller disagreed and posted his distaste for the majority of the members here in his diatribe. So now I am the proud owner of some freshly painted, 3 inch lift, front cj springs which I will probably post up for sale soon and hopefully someone will need them.

As I also stated @ the beginning, I was being somewhat "general" in my description as to avoid fanning the flames. However, it didn't take long for some of the brighter ones in our community to figure out who the seller was :D and he eventually responded "very angrily" on his own.

For all those that have only gotten this Jackass' side of the story, let me shed some light on it! My name is Josh and I'm from Troy for all of you illiterate fucks! First of all, He got these springs the next day and was happy with them. I never heard anything back from him for a couple of days! After Painting them he tells me they were not what he was looking for! He's owned 3 YJ's & a CJ...Hell he should be the damn Jeep expert right?? It's the buyers job to ask all the questions & request more pics. He's suppose to know what he's looking for and what he needs! When I'm shopping for something I know what it looks like inside and out! It's not my place to know what he needs or wants! I told him what I knew and he knew that up front! If you bought an item from the store and you got it home and painted it or whatever and then realized that it didn't fit or work, that store wouldn't take it back either! All we know is that he painted the springs...we don't know what else he has done to them! Hell the dumbass thinks that just b/c my forum name is JeepFreak that I know all there is to know about Jeeps! Fucking idiot it's just a damn name I picked when I signed up! I don't know any other way to dumb this down for you so oh well. I thought this was common sense but apparently that didn't get around to some of you! I'm doing myself a solid by not buying or selling on this forum anymore! INS...Really????? Damn Idiots!! I really wish one of ya'll dumb mother fuckers would try and beat me with something! I was never asked to measure the damn springs and if you could read you would have known that! I've got better things to do besides sitting on the computer and listening to pussies and their empty threats!
And to the Moderators that are reading this...Pls delete my account IMMEDIATELY!!

Such anger, you should look into anger management classes. Is this where the "freak" in "jeepfreak" comes from? No need to insult all these fine folks because you made a mistake & your ego can't handle being told you were wrong. Really, it's ok to be wrong..

somebody please buy those springs so this will end, taking up valuable forum space for other pointless subjects....seriously though (jeepfreak) sing a song [media]
