What's a redneck?

Witness!!

Truly depends on how many beers have been consumed, and/or when you switch to brown liquor/shine as to what level you've reached

None were observed as derogatory, all deserved a rockfist and a "hell yeah"

See, you get it...
I'm the biggest Redneck on the face of planet Earth.
And a Brotha also. Meh, i just deal with the demons in my head.
Yo Troy!
:)

As usual, ol Charlie Daniels hit the nail on the head.

Montgomery Gentry gets it too.

Basically a redneck is a class or two above white trash. We are the ones who arent afraid to get down and do the grunt work, or get down and pray. We dont not have any money, but we sure as hell aint rich. Usually we have just enough money to get us into trouble. We are those hicks still clinging to God and our guns. We respect those who respect us and aint afraid to whoop some ass if needed.

Different meaning to different people. I get called a redneck all the time at work because I'm the one that hunts, shoots, races dirtbikes and generally spends my time doing outdoorsy shit. Its a drastic contrast to a lot of the people I work with. Then I fix something in the shop, at a show etc that was pretty much fubar'd and the "redneck" is very much appreciated.

I'm with @McCracken on the heirarchy. I also have that same heirarchy for other groups of people but thats for an entirely different thread which should only reside in the garage.

The great irony of that video is that the girl obviously cared what other people thank.

I don't have anything to add to this topic, as I've been called the full gamut from white trash to uppity. I'm somewhere in between, and a bit of a chameleon depending on who I'm around. I like pretty much all people on an individual level, and dislike pretty much all people on a group level.

I always looked at redneck as a derogatory term, even when Jeff Foxworthy was making the term famous in the 90's. But do believe the perception has changed since it's origination. To me, a redneck is one step above cooking meth in their clapped out single wide. My apologies to anyone that classifies themselves as a 'redneck'...I'd more than likely classify you differently. A southern gentlemen/bell to me is the top of the classy southerner. Then the 'country' folk is more the hardworking middle class...not to be confused by 'Bro country', which are seemingly hipsters with a southern accent disguised in country apparel.
