As the only car guy in the family, I have been asked to get my wifes grandparents fleet sold. I will be taking in their One owner, 2003 S10, old-man beige, extended cab, 2wd, 4.3l, 113k on the clock. I gave it a tune-up a few months ago and I will be doing a full detail and fixing any of the odds and ends it may need. Wondering what the current market value is on these 2wd units. A quick search shows asking prices in the $10k-$2k range, I would guess $7k as a starting point, but I typically watch the market for my stuff for months before posting and have a better finger on the pulse of what is selling and what is sitting.

Take those months to actually sell it

List it 'high' $7k? and slowly lower it until it sells

Then you'll know what its worth

The quality of the ad/pics will go a long way to getting serious buyers andnot time wasters

Seems like we have a couple "price check" ads open, so I will add a new data point.

It was a clean truck (but still, 24 years old). I did a full service front to rear...spent about $750 on rockauto and put in my free labor. Listed it for $7,800 and had dozens of messages about it From VA to GA. Sold it in less than a day for $7,400....had easily a dozen people telling me it wasn't worth my asking price, but that they would "Give me $6,000 CASH".

I probably could have washed it and listed it for $5k and got pretty close, but I wanted to see if I could get a few extra bucks for her grandparents. Time and money well spent. I absolutely hate selling things on Facebook! Bring back newspapers and craigslist!

Quoted for truth!!!!

And congrats on the sale. Always feels good when you sell it quick but still feel like you were on the upper end of the price spectrum.
It feels better when the money goes into MY pocket....but it was nice to get my good deed for the year done and over with!

And yes, I think I was at the top end of the price point. I spoke to the new buyer the day after the sale, and he is over the moon with the truck after his 80 mile drive home. That always feels good too, it seemed important to the original owner that the truck go to someone that would appreciate it.
