whats the best carburetor?

Also a Demon 575 will wake up a 302. But not real sure how it would be on inclines such as the rocks.

I prefer Holley's. I have a 600 double pumper that a friend and I blueprinted. Runs like a striped a$$ ape. It ran great on my 302 but was a bit small for my 393W. So know I'm working on excising a Demon 650. I like the DP carb, but I can work the throttle a lot smoother in the rough stuff with the vacuum secondary. You don't have to buy an expensive TA carb. Just use the spring loaded needle and seats, and extend your bowl vents.

...Been running a tweaked q-jet for years on Chevy 283 in the little CJ....never been a problem....only problem has been with rusty gas tanks & clogging fuel filters...not the carb

Gonna try a Truck Avenger on this next Project (472 Caddy Motor)....I think it depends on your engine application, space for propane tanks??, personal preference or how deep your pockets are.

There are a few pro's and cons to consider...DD or Trail Rig Only?? ,Cost, Ease of Install, etc, Cost...

Good Luck with whatever yo go with...

Not gonna be a lot of help, but IMHO they all make good and Bad ones.
For years I was a die hard Holley only carb guy. I probably bought 5 or 6 bolt on and go never had a problem. During that time I owned 1 Edelbrock (in all fairness it was on the vehicle when I bought it so no history) and it sucked. I literally had to adjust the AF mix everytime I drove it.

well a few years later I find myself with a brand new Holley with a torn vac diaphragm, out of the box and it eats N&S sets for breakfast. So out of frustration I bought an Edelbrock and it was perfect nothing like my old experience.

I have known many with the exact opposite opinions.

All that said, I am of th opinion that nothing beats a properly tuned and set up Qjet, however less that 1 in 25 Qjets is set up properly and tuned.

As for the TA, bleh For $500 you can go TBI on a SBC and run the bitch upside down.

I have ran as large as a 750 on a built racing 302, but for street or trail use I wouldn't go any bigger than 600-650 CFM. The 670 TA will work on a healthy 302 but the 570 seems to to a better job.

A properly tuned 600 should feed a 302 up to about 450 hp

I've had both the mc2150 and the holley 390. Both work well.Go with the 2150 for simplicity, gas mileage, and they run at any angle! The h390 gives quick response to the take off and climbing. My preference? The holley...
