I was in a convenience store this evening, buying a pint of ice cream [Like I Need it!]. Waiting behind a Woman, that was getting a pack of cigarettes & a bottle of wine. I think she had a $20, & when the clerk rang it up, she asked what the change was. It was $9.01. She told the clerk to put that on pump 3, then said hold on. She counted out All the change in her purse. Ended up with $10.21, for gas. The Clerk wasn't too pleased to have to count the change, void the first transaction, & then reset pump 3. Guess she didn't want any lottery tickets! :shaking:

I see this scenario every morning at the store near my shop. Except it's 2 40oz's , pack of smokes, 4 scratchers and $4 in gas with cash…then there's an arm load of chips, crackers and drinks all swiped with an EBT card. All at 8-9 am. No need to make america great again, it already is for these people!

No mystery. Why work, when you can.... ....not work?

Playing the devils advocate here but Ive had trucks I would never fill up cause if they quit on me I didn't want them to be full of gas cause I wasn't gonna fix em.In all seriousness though that shit is bein played out all over the country. My wife works w temps who will not take a full time job at John Deere cause it will mess up their section 8 housing and food stamps.

I have a family member who was fat and had gastric bypass surgery, guess who paid for that,my ass did.Her two kids had braces,my ass paid for that,my son had braces,$6200 worth, and I be danmed if my ass didn't have to pay for them too.

Ive sold a tractor trailer load of parts to kids building jeeps/buggies with student loan money, hell they might as well most are gonna file bankruptcy on their student loans anyway.

'cept student loans usually survive bankruptcy...unless you can prove "undue hardship" which is hard to do...feds aren't going to let you off that easy

They're just spending daddy's money.

In some cases probably so but i have had em tell me they were using student loan money to buy parts.

Who am I to stand in the way of their poor decision making.

I refused to sell my sport bikes a couple of times to "kids" I knew would end up dead the next week. At the time..... I felt better about not contributing to their demise, but yes, I know SOMEONE sold them a 1000cc sportbike. It just wasn't mine

No point in saying that, other than it doesn't matter if YOU contribute directory or not...they're gonna find a solution

Bankruptcy doesn't work for federal student loans or taxes. The govt will get their $ eventually!

The smart kids refinance into debt consolidation loan. Then quit their job and file. I hear it's all the rage

A buddy in college built his whole truck - paint, tires, suspension lift, etc, on his student loans.

I wish I was that smart sometimes. I'm still paying mine like a good upstanding citizen, and not spending money for anything cool or fun with cars. I'm not building a hot rod project any time soon.

I wish I could get rid of mine. But morally I just can't do it. And, I don't really want to go through a bankruptcy. It kind of puts a damper on things.

On my way back from the Keys a few years ago, I was filling up my tank in SC because if I waited it would cost more in nc. I love my car, Chevy Impala, nothing fancy just reliable and affordable, got it used. With 27k milea on it. Anyway, I hear the couple at the next pump arguing about how much gas to get, she wants $5 he wants $10. Headed north with VA plates, newer BMW decked out. Thinking to myself how glad I am to be filling up my nice car instead of arguing over $5 in gas two states from home in a Luxury car I can't afford to put gas in.

I don't know about you guys but I never do anything other than a complete fill-up. I don't have to go inside, just pay credit outside and GTFO, and that way I can calculate my mileage every time.
In the end it's the exact same amount of money spent, but less time spent stopping for gas.

Now, all that said - I HAVE had cars where every bit of gas put in the car was an "investment" gamble that I didn't know if I would get back, and had no intention of keeping it if it died right then. One in particular probably doubled the value just to fill the tank.

Yep. Fuelly.com to track it. I like numbers.

I always fill up at the pump, assuming it is not a project vehicle on it's maiden voyage.

I seem to overspend if I go inside....

I have always endeavored to keep my wife in a current, reliable vehicle....drives me a little nutty when she stops for $10-15 of gas. The time is invested, take the extra .5-2 minutes to fill up.

Quoted for truth.
