When I first saw this post, I thought to myself "Kevin (because that's what I call myself while thinking to myself), a solid answer was given in the first couple responses, so more do's and don'ts will be recommended, and this isn't a Fuller thread, so it'll be over in about 10 comments'. Looking at the page count of this thread this morning, I soon realized, Kevin was wrong.

No. It can be used alone or in a group. You can also use a wheelcock sock but I personally never use those.
