It doesn't drive me bonkers, I just refuse to read anything like that. It's as easy as that. I'm not on Facebook for the same reason. I don't care about forums, they're meant for quick random thoughts and aren't passing themselves off as an opinion article.

If you're going to act like a snobbish English Major, you should try harder.

I went back and read it. It really does read like a bunch of forum posts strung together, and it's hard to read. That's still my opinion, even if it was a bit harsh. I'm not judging or arguing the content, because your opinion is your own.

I'm sorry you felt attacked, and I didn't realize you wrote it until you became very defensive.

I also read "On Friday I Killed a Coworker", and the writing is very different. So I don't dislike your writing, I just don't like the writing in the John Wayne article. :p

I typically don't visit or participate in the general chit chat section of any forum, for this particular reason. ( I just saw "John Wayne" in the new post and tapped because my father was a fan.) I'm a member of 4 forums, all off road related. I peruse these forums for 4X4 content, particularly new tech, fabrication, and home brew solutions that are viral in forums; (here, pirate, hardline, and desert rangers), and also to share my own builds and tech.

This is NC4x4, that's why I'm here, for the 4x4 part. I can get enough opinions and blogging anywhere else on the net or tv or publications. I don't fault the OP, he posted in the correct area, it just boggles me that everyone feels they need a voice and/ or feels they need to share there opinion of agreement or disagreement.

I don't have a problem with there being a general chit chat section, I just choose to ignore.


Now I wouldn't even post here but for @Fabrik8, who seems to have a grand opinion about EVERYTHING. But I haven't seen him post anything that he's fabricated- pun intended (he may be a fabricating god for all we know, but he hasn't shared any) ; certainly nothing 4x4 related. Hell, he has more post than me, (member less than 2 years and myself 7), he has no build threads and has started only a dozen or so threads; which means he posts in many threads, (I've had 3-4 lengthy ones- crawler, shop, work truck, manche), and I haven't heard of him participating in the off road community.

Now, I certainly haven't read all his posts and don't intend to, but what I've seen is the typical engineer who has a tremendous amount of education and is more than willing to share. (I too have some engineering background, but a great deal more shade tree application in the 4x4 area.) I'm certain the people who you may have helped on this forum appreciate your input, but frankly sometimes your opinion just isn't needed.

I don't know you or your background, but I applaud you for following through on your education and whatever career path you've chosen. It's obvious you have a fair background in automotive, computers, and Boirl Scouts, but you have self proclaimed you know little about off road, racing anyway...(and obviously everything else you have responded too...)

Please don't read into this that I feel I'm an off road luminary, because I'm not, and I make and learn from all my mistakes. But I am an excellent study and have been learning and sharing in these forums for many years. I answer every question in my threads and take every critique with an open mind; in an attempt to learn more myself.

I'm totally guilty of this. You aren't the first person to say things like that, trust me.
I'm here for fun, and because I like the people here, and to try and help, but my social awareness is pretty shitty. Seriously, it's pretty hindsight-based, and I realize (from experience) that it isn't the most endearing quality sometimes. If it was easy for me to see coming, I wouldn't do it.

Sorry for destroying this thread, it kind of snowballed in grand fashion... This is one of those "yep, that was dumb, it would be nice to just delete everything stupid I said" moments.

You are definitely more omniscient in hindsight, but that will eventually wear off with everyone in time.

In my older age (and dicking my way through parenthood) I've lost some tolerance at an alarming rate.

Big picture; NC4x4 is full of a great deal of nice people... think little pond.... head over to pirate to attempt to impart some of your expertise... think big pond... you will have been told to consume unthinkable amounts of bleach and suck on many tailpipes...

I'm sure your heart is in the right place when helping someone, but many times your mouth steps in front of your brain.

Well now i feel like a butt for the direction I pushed this thread. :p

Fixed the title on my site, but can't find the option here.

So.

First off. I'm using my phone and typing posts on it isn't fun.

Second, my apologies for getting carried away. I was going to delete my last post, but when i went to, it had already been quoted.

Third, if you read the 'About Me page on my site it talks about why I created it. Ultimately it's for my writings. I'm over 70,000 words deep into a fictional story involving historical characters, dinosaurs, and apes set in 1885. Think Jurassic World meets Planet of the Apes meets Magnificent Seven. Western Fantasy genre. You guys got a taste of that with my Killed a Coworker thread. Its an outlet for when i get bored or overwhelmed with the story or research, I can throw up some goofy short story or a conservative political post.

Once upon a time I believed that if you had a business, or an actor, writer, small business... whatever, you should avoid public politics.

That it can only hurt you and you should stay neutral.

But now I look around, and see my country, of which I am tremendously proud to be a part of, as well as my Christian faith, my morals, my beliefs, traditions, values, and my inalienable rights being trampled, spit on, insulted, demeaned, ostracized, and belittled for not being 'progressive'... while their insanity is forced upon me and mine.

And I refuse to sit idly by while this continues. I will do my part to ensure a better America for my kids than what I grew up in.

And I don't think voting is enough. We've relied on that while our kids are being brainwashed in schools because we didn't stand up and say, Enough! My kid will not share locker rooms with the opposite sex. Enough! Common core is garbage! Enough! My kids will be allowed to PRAY! Enough! They will not be part of the transgender inclusiveness because it's wrong!

I think these falsehoods of the left need to be dragged out from the darkness of lies, deceit, corruption, and immorality and exposed for the damage it causes to our communities.

And maybe I won't change anyone's mind with my writings.

That's ok.

Because people who believe as I do, and who don't wish to rock the boat or get involved, will see it and know they aren't alone.

From the final portion of my 'About Me' page:

Conservatives by nature aren't very vocal creatures. We tend to be low key. We want to live our lives as free as possible in our traditional, heterosexual, christian ways with guns and bibles in our night stands and the majority of what we earn we want to keep. We also tend to be patriotic, and realizing that our country while imperfect, is vastly superior to all other countries out there.

The 'frothing left', tends to be 'in your face obnoxious'. They want you to think that white people should be ashamed, that people can pick their gender, that socialism is good and capitalism is evil, guns are horrific killing machines, and conservatives are hateful, spiteful, violent, with a war on women. They think America needs to be 'fundamentally changed' because it's mean and unfair. "Waaaaa!"

I've grown tired of seeing those blathering goobers not being verbally taken behind the woodshed. Perhaps if they had more often maybe they would have grown into logical, decent human beings instead of emotional cry babies.
