Where were you, what were you doing on 9/11?

8th grade, Mr. Tom Haney's class. One of the other teachers came in to tell us about what happened, and we turned on about 5 minutes before the second plane hit.

Actually like 2 minutes before it hit, i remember saying "Wouldnt it be crazy if another one hit?". As soon as it did, everyone looked at me and I just said "oh shit".

I also remember mentioning that I believed it was Osama Bin Laden in the next class we went to, right after the towers came down...

I had come home from work. Leslie and I were dating, but she still lived in Asheville. I woke up early and got on the putor. Was talking to a friend of mine on Yahoo, and she told me to turn on the TV, I asked Why, she said she couldn't explain, just turn on the TV. I asked what channel, she said it don't matter. She was right. There it was on every channel. To tell the truth, I was in shock.

Thought I would share this email I just opened from my nephew, who is in Afghanistan

Although I consider every other Soldier, Sailor, Airmen and Marine here with me a hero; they are not the only heroes. Those of you that give or have given your time to make this world a better place--not for money, but simply because it was the right thing to do. To those that support us, even if you don't want us to be here--you are heroes too. On Fri, Sep 12, 2008 at 10:28 AM, Joel Fox <classapistol@gmail.com> wrote:

Well another week has passed at the expense of my government sponsored vacation to Southwest Asia. This week has had many interesting moments; as I write this most of you are going to bed the evening of 11 Sep, having recalled at least once through out the day where you were and what you were doing 7 years ago. It is kind of surreal to be in Kabul, Afghanistan on the anniversary of Sep 11th--where the government protectors of Osama bin Laden had once ruled. Camp Eggers held a ceremony at 0730 to remember the acts of both terrorism and heroism that occurred on that day and almost everyday since. Our Coalition partners stopped to remember, pray and cry with us. As I drift into the rest of my letter, remember this: I will leave this place in about 10 months, but we will be fighting this enemy (you can call them Taliban (TB), Al Qaeda (AQ) or religious fundamentalist, but by any name they are evil) for more years than I can serve--both by being able and willing. As long as we, as Americans and our Allies, continue to prosper because of our hard work, opportunities and tolerance of other religions and cultures, we will be hated and despised. A fundamentalist, of any kind, believes that to tolerate anything other than what you believe is to lack conviction in your beliefs. Since we "western" countries appreciate people regardless of their ethnicity, color, sex or religion, if any, we are hated an despised and thought of as an infidel. Those that hate us for this are the terrorist, and they are evil. Although I don't consider myself a hero, every other Soldier, Sailor, Airmen and Marine here with me is. That is what we remember here. The large crowds that gather to remember September 11th 2001 will eventually fade and people will go about their lives for another year, but the battle against evil will rage as it has since creation.

I was doing a walk thru for a project at Biogen in the park. The TV was on in the break room. I watched as the second plane hit. After that, I drove home to be with the family.

I had just started a grad program at WFU; was taking 1st year neuroanatomy and it was going very badly for me. We had our first exam that morning at 10 am.
I got into the lab around 9 and somebody sent me an AIM about it, we all watched news on a TV in a nearby waiting room (hospital) and saw the 2nd plane hit, live.
I thought for sure (hoping) they'd cancel the exam. They didn't, the prof's daughter lived in NYC - she said if she could be there, we could too.
I failed it miserably, 52% lol.

i'll never forget the AIM text/discussion early that AM when I first got in...
buddy - "Did you hear? a plane hit the WTC"
me - "WTf is the WTC?"
buddy - "world trade center dumbass"
me - "oh !@#$ that's a crazy accident"
buddy - "yeah, weird, huh?"

I was working in a garage for somebody else,IIRC I was clutching a Ford truck. We heard it on the radio.I didn't realize the severity of it until I got home.

i thought my dad was watching Die Hard at 6 AM when i rolled out of bed for school. i didnt realize it was real untill i got to school and it was on EVERY TV the school had.

Ummm... ummmm...

The first event (AA11) hit 1WTC at 8:46am.

What time was it again?
Notice the 360 area code in his sig?
(Dude, why put your cell # out on the world? Kind of asking for issues in my mind? but that's another story)

So given that's Seattle'ish.
Looks like it hit at 5:46am for him?
:flipoff2:

I was in the library (senior year) at TC Roberson HS working on a paper or something. They turned all the TV's on (muted) after the first plane hit. I saw the one hit the 2nd tower too...it was crazy.

That was my first day back to work after a vacation, and I was moving to second shift for a project we were just kicking off. I was still at home asleep when my best friend called and asked if I was watching TV. I was really annoyed, and I asked him what channel, to which he replied ,"Any channel." I knew that couldn't be good. I turned on the TV and literally five seconds later the second plane hit. I just sat down right in the middle of the living room floor with a thud, because I couldn't believe my eyes. It took me a minute to realize the phone was still even in my hand. When I got back on the line Mike asked me what I thought, and I told him, "We're going to war."

I was working, sort of. Napping in a boiler room at St. Pauls high school in St. Pauls NC. We woke up around lunch and some kid had to let us back into the school because the doors were all locked. We spent the rest of the day in the library watching tv.

We had just moved to Poughkeepsie, NY a couple of weeks before (75 miles north of NYC), I just got in from Calif. the night before and it was our 2nd wedding anniv. Seeing all the military and emergency vehicles all over the road made it that much more real!

I was teaching a basic web design class...and was instructed to crash the server so kids couldnt watch it online at the school.

When I saw it I was sick. I had 2 friends that were to be there that day. They had flown in from California and Louisiana and I was to head that way the weekend. They were to call me from the tower for directions. They didnt call. About 10pm that night they did. They had gotten up early that morning and decided to get some coffee and walk around till later in the morning. They ended up on the ferry headed out to the Statue of Liberty....there they saw both planes.

Another friend that was to meet us that weekend was heading to work downtown DC. the was on the turnpike just outside the pentagon. He watched the "object" hit the pentagon.

It was a rough day.

That weekend I drove up to Rochester NY to meet up with the guys. That drive was very erie. No traffic....no planes other than military jets running the highways. We were stopped 3 times by state police that seemed to pop up from no where. Same things on the way home that Sunday...very little traffic...nothing but military jets.

will never forget the fear/anger/patriotism of that day.

I was in Spanish class and we had a sub, he turned the tv on after the first plane, and we all saw the second plane crash.

just curious, was your friend able to ID the object as a commercial plane as reported by the mainstream media, or is there something behind the conspricy websites?

He said he heard something loud overhead then saw the "impact"/explosion at the pentagon.....but "never really saw anything"....he said it was so quick that when he jumped from the sound overhead the explosion occurred almost instantly.

He didnt think it was a plane.
