who remembers?

The world was different back then. I still miss it. I think that was the first place I took my wife wheeling.

Did crackers neck one day and Globe the next. Fun weekend.

Did that same two-fer a couple of times myself!!! Great memories. I even camped up on the top of the trail at Globe one night.

I remember. I was riding shot gun in the white Sammi. I actually later bought the samurai, wheeled it for a while then sold it to Bigwoody.

Thank you for posting that video. Brought back so many good memories. I wheeled with most of those guys at some point or another. I tried to buy the xj with the wood paneling on the side not long after this video was shot. I think he and I got within $200 on the price and it didnt work out. I was pissed at myself for that for a long time. I dont remember any of there names, but I think most of them hung out at hcore4x4.

That rock at Globe was so much more intimidating than it looks in the pictures.

so what was the so what was the story with this place? Was it private land?

I hate you all for that.

I never got to go there and back in 2006 I was back and forth between Charleston and Columbia and catching a ride up to Tellico whenever I could.

I feel young for saying that. Haha!

@Chuckman and I went to the courthouse years ago, looked up the owner, contacted him, and got permission to wheel. However, by the time you got to "the rock," you were unfortunately on state land..... one group that ventured in were met by law enforcement on the way out, and got $400 citations.

So cool to see all the pics, videos and memories from this place. After they closed this area and tellico I sold my jeep and was out of wheeling for a long time......

Same for me, I just never sold the Jeep.

think I was with the first group to roll up on the big rock. raise your hand if you remember it NOT being there. IIRC there were dozer tracks at the ridge from where someone pushed it into place.

Dang, what year do you think that was? The first time I went there was in 2004. Did the forest service or someone purposely put it there to stop vehicles from coming through?
