That's pretty much all I have to say about that,Why the hell can't I keep up with Teflon tape?I like to use it on every joint that might ever pass air or Fluid and I buy a roll almost everytime I go to Wal-mart,Harbor Freight ,or Lowes.Even though I must have 2000 rolls floating around here,I put a new electric fuel pump on today and for the life of me.I COULD NOT FIND A DAMNED ROLL OF TEFLON TAPE.I know other guys must have items like this.......................

For me, it's half-inch combination wrenches. A little more expensive. I wish they'd sell them in 20-packs.

That little pair of channel locks thats about the size of your finger. I use that for countless different things, but when I go to reach in my pocket its gone. Usually found in the kids room...in pieces.

Same reason we have a pair of screwdrivers in each vehicle, the garage, and most rooms of the house!

Just messing with ya. It just struck me as funny.

As I've gotten older I had to become a creature of repetition. Everything goes back where it belongs as soon as I'm through with it or I'll forget where I've placed it. This is including keys, wallet, etc.

I have to keep my work toolbox organized. Every tool in it has it's place. Before I leave the job site I make sure they are all there. Get's way to expensive having to replace tools.

Yeah, we've learned this the hard way, too. I have pretty close to a photographic memory, so that helps... I'm often summoned to the garage to help find things I haven't seen in ages. Although the best way to find a lost tool is to buy a new one. ;)

x2
I know where my teflon tape is...on the extra long peg on the pegboard in the garage with all the other rolls of tape. I have to admit that the duct tape ends up here, there and everywhere though, but usually there is a roll on that same peg.

Im that way with tape measures, pencils when working on a project, and duct tape since I never put it up when I am done. It sucks a lot when you have to stop what you are doing and look for something for 10 minutes.

I've got the teflon tape problem too. I think it's because it's teflon and nothing sticks to it...including my tool box?

For what it's worth, there are different types of Teflon tape. Working at a machine shop, I saw white gunk in the bowls of carbs, when I asked about it, I was told it was Teflon tape that had broke down. Can really foul things up, have also seen it on injectors. The stuff you are supposed to use for gas connections had a yellow tint to it.

At the end of a project everything goes back where it belongs. My problem is Ill set stuff down while Im still working, knowing in the next 30 seconds Ill need that same tool, and then forget where I sat it down at. Its always worse when I put it somewhere I "know" Ill remember.

it gets worse the older you get:rolleyes:.

Tape measures! I bet I've bought 6-7 in the last year. They just seem to vanish. Poof! gone. Into the ether.

I even make it a point to buy the bright reen or orange ones so they can be spotted from across the room.

Yeah I second Tape Measures,Also yesterday while looking out in the barn,In the utility room and through tool boxes on my truck,I set down the fuel pump I was carrying around with me looking for the Teflon Tape.I finally found a roll in the bottom of one of my tool boxes then spent 35 minutes looking for the dammed fuel pump!!!!!!!!

My wife has started buying Teflon tape in bulk for Christmas, birthdays, fathers day, etc just so I might be able to find "A" role when I need it. I'm sure I have better than hundred rolls of that stuff floating around, I just don't know where.

Electrical tape is my downfall. I buy it by th "log" and still can never find it.

On a side note I use "blousing straps" for my ACU's to roll the pant legs up. A pair costs a quarter at the clothing store on base. I buy 4-5 dollars worth every couple months and still can never find a set when I am getting ready for work LOL

Yep, tape measures, hammers, and the 1/2" combo wrench. Also, when I put something somewhere "to make sure I remember it", it most certainly can't be found.

Another one is dial calipers. I've got a table between the mill and lathe, and they should always be there, but they never are.

I learned at a early age to put things in a certain place every time! You see I started driving a tracter-trailer 48 states and Canada at 18 yrs old solo! I had one chance to put things back! Or it was gone forever. PJ can attest to this today. I've got tool sets that has traveled more miles than most people! Teflon tape....top drawer on the left stack of tool box's on the left side of drawer in back. Yellow and white T tape, beside of the liquid teflon sealer.

Oh yeah, carried the same Zippo lighter for 14yrs and still have it now! One item is always easier to keep up with than dozens!
