Wife wants a Jeep. The “important” things to her are 🙄… AC (not afraid of installing aftermarket AC), 3-4” lift and tires to match, variuos tops, seats she likes and, get this, the right one of steering wheel. She likes old steering wheels. Not bulky airbag steering wheels. And preferably an auto, but not opposed to a manual.

Initially I was thinking a TJ for her. Modern enough to have ABS, Fuel injection, those types of things.

She says they are too modern and keeps showing me YJ’s. Cool! I like YJ’s, but I don’t think she gets the difference and after 2 months is going to change her mind.

That’s fine, I’ve always like YJ’s 😁.

I found an ‘88 for sale locally and we went to look at it and I took her for a drive to give her an idea of what to expect. Ended up I really liked this YJ! Nutter bypass with MC2100 and MC/ford ingotion parts. AX15 conversion, TJ cage, 4” BDS… thing fired right up, drove great, rode great, I thought it was great…so did she. Kinda back fired on me. :D

Anywhooo, thoughts on anything to watch out for on what years? If I had to, what can I drop an Aw4 in if needed. I’m not dealing with another shit Chrysler slushbox if I don’t have to.

What have you all run into with the “wife wants a Jeep because it looks fun”?

Hell, anyway it goes, I see myself wondering up with another Jeep toy anyway.😁

My wife wants a Jeep for the family, which means she wants us to get a 4 door. While I personally really enjoy having a 2 door. Currently I'm wanting to upgrade from my 07 JK 2 door to a newer 12+ JK or an LJ. My issue is I'm a "cheap ass" so options in my price range are limited.

I wanted a red YJ since I was in college.

I got that opportunity a few years ago. The perfect YJ

Absolutely loved it .. and.. my wife immediately claimed it as hers 🤦🏾‍♂️

She loved driving it.

Yes the TJ suspension is superior

Yes all the TJ comforts are better

But the YJ has that character of our childhood that can't be replicated

Roll up windows, thin doors, no airbags, no computers, more connection to the road.... can't describe it but 1000x more fun to drive than my TJ when IT was stock

Not sure if this helps, but just my 2¢

I can't speak for others, but I know Joe has gotten to experience all the joys of an expensive ass hobby, a new appreciation for beer, a full shop, & a new favorite phrase "fuck a jeep!"

I've had a YJ, JK, TJ and now back to a TJ. So you really can't go wrong with any of them :D

You’ve never had an LJ…I can change that …hahha

Mine stated she want a Jeep. Picture any Jeep with Ducks across the dash.....she would be happy. I happily said nope we are broke. Ideally I'd love to talk her into a newish Bronco in a couple more years......if I'm not still broke.
She hates the Ford Fusion we bought. It does everything we need but doesn't feel the same as what she was driving. Her first ever big girl purchase was a Chrysler Pacifica and I swear it handles like a light pick up. She hates the lower driving position and handling of the car. In reality I need a space shuttle with wheel because that's how I feel in the Pacifica.......
And I need to get my YJ back on the road.....she wouldn't admit it but she loved the little Ford V8 and bouncing down the road.
