I've read up about people using factory mounts like these with the u bolts to hold them in place and then you mount the XJ spring on top of it....thoughts

What would be the reason behind doing that?

I guess it's already there so saves some Fab work, and allows the spring to coil down into recessed hole rather than making flat mount...it was just a thought

It appears I have a big problem
someone correct me if I'm wrong but it would appear to axle housing with the long shaft in it is a Dana 50 and the spare supposed to be Dana 50 housing is actually a 60 cuz this short axle clearly is not a 50

Ok all right I'm stupid or lost or something somebody tell me what the heck's going on this is the other what's supposed to be spare long shaft

The middle shaft is for a Dana 50.

The SD front originally used this with square-ish u bolts

So I'm right that I have a full D60 and a parts 50axle....AWWWWWW SNAP thank you for confirming that.
I have those top pieces too but wasn't going to use those just the other plates...maybe unless bad idea

If your staying on leaf's I'd just use the stock plates. You may or may not be able to use the shock mount on them. The outers on the 50 will still work on the 60 if your staying with 30 spline outers.

Yes it will work fine.
Rock on.
Lets save 10 pages thats what you are going to do anyway

What size is the pinion nut?
Before you get a stiffy over an axle shaft or anything

Don't know, I'll get it tomorrow. Pretty sure I've figured out it's a 60... Look at the pictures what else can it be. 2 matching axles fit into one housing the other smaller long one fits in the other. I'll find out tomorrow cause I don't think pinion yokes interchange and the SD60 one is broke

You should just weld a collar on the narrow area of the d50 shaft. That will make it a d60.

Didn't realize you took those out of a complete axle.
If they're 35 spline, which they appear to be, they came out of a 60.
Can you confirm or not if the D50 pinion yokes will fit the 60. Figured you might know right off the bat, thank you
