Window Tint Rant

So last night I've got this truck a ways behind me on I-40 from about half a mile or more I can tell it's running the high beams. As it gets closer it gets in my lane behind me. Starting to really bother me so I slow down trying to get it to pass me. No dice, follows for another half mile to my exit. At the stop sign I am completely blind save for the ditch across the road which this truck has so graciously illuminated for me. I can't see anything coming from either direction due to his supper white high beams. Finally make my turn which of course I'm followed. I'm ticked at this point being blinded for over 2 miles and completely pull off the road to let this knuckle head go by. As it goes past and I fall in behind I realized the issue. Limo style tint everywhere. Even with high beams blinding everyone else they still probably couldn't see where they were going. Between being followed and then following them over the course of over 5 mi and many cars coming head on on a two lane road never once did they find a need to flip it down to low beams. Am I that much of a wimp? Seriously that can't be fun to drive, isn't safe at all, and is the reason we have tint laws.

-Rant over-

Are you sure he had on his high beams or was the truck just missing the rear lift blocks?

I would have probably done exactly what you did in that situation.

That was the strangest thing. I was sure that once passed I would see sparks from the hitch dragging, but it in fact was a level or at least fairly level truck!

I have been known to get out at a stop sign walk back and ask the driver to dim their damn lights on at least 3 occasions.

I have been accused of knocking the headlight out on the way back to my truck on 1 occasion but did not commit that transgression.

I have a 05 dodge 2500 , 5% all around and 35% on windshield. no problem seeing at night with factory lights and bulbs. I have pretty sensitive eyes when it comes to lights and can't stand on coming traffic with high beams on and try hard not to do it to others.

I have a solution for the high beam renegades (the lights...not the mortar :D )

35% strip across the top or is the whole thing tinted?

Maybe your beef is with imbeciles that modify headlamps with parts not designed for them and never re-aim/adjust... not with tinted windows? ;)

I share in your dislike of those folks, so just hope the first SHP they pass/get behind will lay the lumber to them!

I second the not bothering to re-aim headlights after lifting. My old silverado had 5% over the factory tint on the rear glass and honestly I couldn't see shit behind me at night unless someone's headlights were there. That being said I also had 20% on the doors and 35% on the entire windshield and had zero problems seeing in front or beside me.

My work truck carries a lot of weight in the bed and therefore makes it squat just enough to blind people at night. I run my low beams but am constantly flashed by oncoming cars because they think I have my high beams. If I did run my high beams then it would be worse.

So I apologize if I have blinded others, it isn't on purpose. Just weak rear springs on a Tacoma

I thought all Yotas had the headlight aimers?

Thats one of my favorite features of the Tundra...load it down enough to squat and just dial he headlights down from the comfort of the drivers seat

I finally got out 1 night, to ask the driver to dim his lights. I was driving an old wrecker, & his Brights hit my mirrors, Perfect! I had made All kind of hand motions, & light/turnsignal/4 way motions, to No avail! When I came to a stop sign, I got out. Wasn't sure What was going to happen, but it turned out Comical, for me. A young kid with his girlfriend. Guess that's why he wasn't watching me. But it scared the Crap out of him, that I jumped out & approached him! Once I explained why, all I heard was apologizes & Yes Sirs! That Was many years ago, before everyone got guns.

Not on the base pre runner that I have, 2014 year. It doesn't even have intermittent wipers, still has the low, high or nothing wiper option. Why in 2014 does a vehicle not have intermittent wipers but has a 5 inch touch screen radio with Bluetooth technology??? Riddle me that Toyota!!!

My wife always advises the kids to NEVER provoke another driver or confront one, because they could be as crazy as their father (then points out that I am never without a firearm within reach.....well slingshot these days since the boating accident)
She flares up like a strobe light when she sees ME get aggrivated, for the same reason, but when we're in a sketchy part of town...she reverts back to "boy I'm glad you've got your slingshot :D "
