window tint

Seriously isn't there bigger problems than some redneck riding around town in his truck with window tint, I think officers of the law should reevaluate their priorities and catch people that are doing things wrong i.e. (selling drugs, illegal weapons, robberies, murders, burglary, indecent exposure) surely there are enough things to keep yall busy.

I am tired of law enforcement driving around the bad neighborhoods, and not doing a thing about the assaults and drug trafficing that is extremely apparent.

How much do you honestly know about law enforcement? Clearly, not much.

Part or the reasoning behind the tint law is so that if an officer pulls someone, they can see into the vehicle to be able to determine if any illegal activity is occuring inside said vehicle.

It is also helps the officer know how many people are in the vehicle.

If their is a rear seat passenger the officer can not see because of such a dark tint, who is to say that person does not have a gun and is about to shoot the officer? Yes... that :poop: happens. I know an officer who was shot like that. He pulled the car for suspicion of misconduct and as he was aproaching the vehicle, two shots were fired from the back seat at him. The car fled but was caught a few hours later. He was luckily only grazed by the bullet and hit with some glass, but is fine today. (Or was the last time I saw him - he is in New York)

And let me guess... are you one of those "rednecks" who keeps getting "harrassed" by the "man"?

Hey "eastern" Im a traffic cop. I work traffic and enforce motor vehicle laws. I also investigate and reconstruct serious injury vehicle crashes. Im not a vice cop, Im not a homicide detective. So I am keeping the streets safe. You have to look at the bigger picture!

i have my windows done 15% and i think it's perfect... not too dark at night (though i feel it would be for someone with poor vision) and it's perfect to keep the sun out of your eyes during the day without being so dark that it hurts your vision.....

my new truck is getting 4% on the back window but the sides will probably be 15-20%...... anything darker isn't a functional choice imo....

-Erik <--- alwyas rolls his windows down if being pulled over, tinted or not....

So, any recomendations of a good tint place in the triad?? Quality being very important, i don't want purple tint 5 years from now. BTW, it's for a vette, and that's a big curved rear window i don't want f@*ked up.

i used that place on edwardia and market (?) years ago when i lived in high point... those guys did a really great job...

if you were in wilmington Burley would be your man no questions asked.

Clearly I have eyes and watch incidents like this happen to often, you don't have to be a genius. I know what is legal, and what is illegal, and If I can see it then others can to, but they turn there backs to it.

I respect officers jobs and obey the law as anyone should, but there are things that I don't agree with, I guess I am taking it that you are oblivious to your surroundings.

Well the fact on the officer needing to be able to see the passengers in through the windows I agree with, but factory window tint on all of my trucks has been 18% around the back windows and you can not hardly see in through, especially at night.

And no I am not one of the people being harrased for window tint, actually I have never been pulled over for it, I am just saying what the people that have been pulled over where probably thinking. I am very opinionated and this is the way I feel.

that sounds about right, across from the Advance Auto on that corner? I used to live right near there, back in the day when my CJ was the DD. That tint/wheel shop had nothing that would've interested me :huggy:

Don't they check the tint when you get inspected? My friends disco passed yesterday and it's 18% from the factory on the rear glass and rear windows, and they passed it without a hitch.

im not going to dig too far into this but if the law is for the safety of the officer, how come the law in numerous states is much darker then NC and even in NC, you can go as dark as you want behind the front window on any truck, van or suv yet not on a passenger vehicle

whats the difference?
