Do yall think it would be worth it to put a set of them under a XJ? I will be running 33 LTB's , and later down the road 35's. The XJ will be a weekin toy for mild trails.

Front axle would be simple swap.
Rear axle would be a lot of work, and you can get an 8.8 or xj44 for much cheaper than a TJ rear 44.

That said, if you have a HPd30, you won't really gain that much with the rubi front 44.

I was thinking about doing the 8.8, but then I would need to get spacers for the rear to match the bolt pattern and to make up for the wms of the front axle. And im not a big fan of spacers..

I thought for the rear all i would have to do is remove the coil mounts and weld on spring perches?

i am kinda scared of the D30, haven't heard anything good about it. and I know I love the gas. Hell that is were my saying at (If parts aint flying, you aint trying)

8.8 from explorer is the same 5x4.5 your front axle is.
And it's like 3/4" narrower.
Oh noooeeeessss
:)
Since you're removing coil, control arm, and swaybar mounts, why not start with a much cheaper axle?
TJ rear d44 is 700-1000$ XJ rear d44 is 300-700 8.8 rear is 100-350$
I know where I'd start.

And don't fear the d30 at all. Especially if you've got a HPd30. Just replace shafts and ujoints, make sure the ujoints are in good shape and you'll be fine.
The ujoints in the 30 are the same as in a rubi 44 anyway. So who cares?

my question is: have you wheeled it how it is?

I know I get on this board and read this axle sucks but this one is better. I would honestly evalute what you do, how often you do it, and would it be worth it to go ahead and up grade.

Personally, I am going to have to break an axle more than once before I start to think about swapping something in something else bigger.

If it ain't broke...

I was talking about running the 8.8 with the TJ front axle, that is were i would have to run spacers.

I was trowing around the idea of a waggy 44 front / toyota tacoma rear. I had the axles at one time for another project, but sold them. wouldn't be to hard to get again.

I assume since you're thinking swap you've got the 35 in the rear. If not, rock the corporate axle until it breaks, then replace it.

Paradise, I think only the newer taco rearends are that wide, I think the older (like '04 previous) are actually just a touch narrower than XJ axles.

And if you're looking for a cheap swap, I'm in the middle of swapping in an isuzu 44 on my XJ, 4.10s, disc brake 44 for $125...

As for the front, don't bother going to a new 44 in place of an hp 30 with big joints. Swap to decent 760x joints and don't look back.
