The article says they saved the wrappers w/ intentions of paying. Did they save them in their pocket? or her pocket book? If they had intentions of paying why wasn't the wrappers in the buggy where they couldn't be missed.
As for them sueing the store. I see no grounds for it.
They got exactly what they should have. Maybe they will be a little more aware of their actions next time. There is no telling what else they've "forgot" in the past.

's attitude"... Parents neglecting kids so they can play games on FB, people stealing manhole covers to get scrap money; theft is on the rise. So I agree with Safeway, if they slap everyone on the wrist who dines in while shopping then consumers will see grocery prices skyrocket to pay for the missing product... I dont agree with consuming anything before paying for it b/c then you have no leg to stand on b/c its not officially owned by you. She was dealt with harshly, a police officer could have just wrote a ticket and they could have settled it in court but maybe this will help that family to realize you cant consume before purchase..
