Youtube of the day

I didn't think my recent Moab trip was going to end up on YouTube until a buggy in our group had a bad break and we had to call in the professionals. If you squint really hard at the 12:48 mark you can see my red golf cart in the background.

That timing and placement is impeccable, haha. Even pulled into the Used Car Appraisals zone!

Sad....SS United States has started her final voyage

Id be interested in knowing what they were going to do to sink it. It has to make it out of the gulf, so they cant just put a large hole in the hull. Im assuming some type of explosive, but maybe not. That would be interesting footage to watch.

Hard to believe its not more practical to repurpose or scrap it.
Scrap, I agree...anything involving repurpose would be an insurance nightmare (you know day like to sue)

Read on the reddits that it's headed to Alabama for prep, then sunk in FL waters. Probably 12 - 18 months

You really think so? Some good NDT to verify the hull and then retrofit the topside and innards for the SS Edon Mump 🤷‍♂️
Apparently Pete Davidson and Colin Jost bought the decommissioned Staten Island ferry with hopes of making it into a floating bar/hotel last year. He did an interview recently talking about how many millions of doll hairs it's going to take to renovate it just to be safe for occupants. And then how he's unsure if even after all of that, it will be able to be insured.

I've been in construction and renovation for more than 30 years. Watching the nightmare that has to happen on structures with solid foundations in order to get a C/O I can't fathom what hoops you'd have thru for a FLOATING nightmare.

Floating is actually better because there is no foundation and no geo-tech. Just a bigass chunka metal hull.
