much better tow rig than z71...

454 is thristy...but strog for a gas.

Stick with a stick for durability...

You'll be much happier with the Vortec 454 dually. I have to friends that pull with them and they love em. The Z71 would just require way too much work after many many hours of engineering and calculations to be able to safely handle that much weight. By the way, I'm Ben's roommate.

Yea, I have a buddy who had one and I was always impressed with it, aught to do what I need it to, Just gotta start saving up, cause im probably not gonna sell my Z71, I'll just keep it and eventually lift it ridiculously and put big tires on it and let it live the rest of its life as a mall krawler I guess cause there's really nothing else I could do with it.

good idea ricky, buy a REAL tow rig you will be much happier in the long run, me im in the market for a 94-97 cummins with the manual.

wow your an idiot

Ricky,

look for an old used work truck from a construction company. A lot of times they are really cheap. With a few $$$ and a little time, they can be very good vehicles. They have been used, but most of the vehicles have been well maintained by a fleet mechanic. There are some bad ones that have been abused and poorly maintained, just keep you eyes out. Better yet, check out the State surpluss auctions. They are normally cheap and are in Raleigh.

Lets say, for grins, you could make your truck strong enough to safely handle the weight you are wanting to tow. A DMV officier will open the door of your truck and declare it to be a 1/2 ton truck with a gross combination weight rating of 10,000 lbs ??( I don't know what a 1/2 would be). He then would guess your gross weight to be 18/20,000 lbs with a goose and two rigs. He would then escort you to a scale, if he didn't have portables in the trunk and get an accurate weight of you total rig. Then he would pull out his ticket book and proceed to draw you an expensive lesson in what is not allowed on the highway. I don't know if he would take you directly to jail, very possible.
Lets go a step further, you have an accident and kill someone, you will not be able to have anything in your name for the rest of your life. Your insurance company will not know you and will not honor your policy. On the bright side, your lawyer will love you for many years. You will need him to remain out of jail and contest the many lawsuits that will probably take 15 years or more to play out in court.

GO FOR IT!

welp fellers, this horse has been beat to death, kicking the carcase any more will only draw flies
