2001 7.3 weak compared to 05 cummins

<shrug> Cummins has paid me just north of a million dollars in my life...and I drove a Powerstroke to their office for several years....

Don't twist what I'm saying I'll take a cummins over an international fuck over every day...but (ford truck + below average motor ) >>> (Cummins motor is garbage truck)

Has nothing to do with penis size, since we're are all white I'm sure no one has anything to brag about. .

I smell a racist... With a little dick.

7k doesn't count as towing.

However you classify it, doesn't change the fact that it happened. We were all pulling/dragging bumper-pull trailers with a single rig (2 Jeeps, 1 tube chassis buggy & 1 Nissan), the Nissan probably being the heaviest.

I still don't understand what your point is, or what the story is supposed to be about...

But if your 7.3 passed a common-rail CTD motor, and you were both pulling within a few thousand pounds of one another, one of three things happened: The CTD is broken and needs to be serviced, the CTD got caught up in traffic and lost momentum, or the CTD driver doesn't give a shit about your street-racer bullshit and just likes to ride along and check out the scenery.

Related: I can't count the number of times I've been rolling down the interstate at 70-80mph pulling the big trailer, and get passed by a lifted Ford or Chevy on Rockstars. They pull up alongside, roll some coal, and take off down the road. I'm sure they go home and tell all of their little-pecker friends that they raced a CTD and won.

The garbage trucks around here have Cat motors in them.

The story was just that, a story. Sorry if it rubbed you the wrong way; I didn't say it to make enemies, just sharing an experience...I also said I hoped it wasn't taken as adding fuel to a fire. It doesn't matter to me what type of tow rig you have and if its gas, diesel, steam or alien transportation; if you have the ability to do that so you can ensure you make it home, awesome!

I'm not sure what happened to him, probably traffic or he didn't take the O/D off but considering he rolls coal after every club meeting we have & I honestly don't care I'd say I don't have street-racer bullshit on my mind. I just like to keep in my power band while climbing. If that means I fall behind or pull ahead, so be it.

Mine's not lifted (looks stock) & the only power-adders I have are typical bolt-ons so I don't really roll coal. I don't care what people tow with or even if they drive their rigs to the park/woods (I've been there myself), as long as you're having fun & not a asshat, I'll wheel with ya. Personally, as long as I can afford to keep a tow rig & justify it, I'll never drive my rig to another park again.

this is geting better & better

I Guess if you like the "my dick is bigger than your dick" conversation, that turns into "I don't mean to rub it in, but my dick is still bigger but only in my mind".

Shop truck is 99 powerstroke with a 1/98 build date. Had it since mile 1. Has had a banks kit on it for close to 200k with 0 issues. Truck has 275k on it now. Is it the fastest truck? No. But it does truck stuff very well. It holds weight as stops it. And the dash hasn't fallen off. All 3 trucks are good trucks, some just full certain people's needs better. At the time this truck was the only good crew cab option, and the only reason it was bought.

I had a 99' F250 with 6spd trans, the only things I had done to it were intake/exhaust (stock downpipe), and a 60hp tow setting flashed onto the factory computer.

I can honestly say it was the best towing vehicle I have ever owned or driven (of 3/4-1 ton trucks).
Those vehicles include:
2008 King ranch with 6.4 (rode MUCH better, but if you don't run 80 mph it seemed weak)
2003 3500 Dodge with automatic, intake, exhaust, and chip. Sounded HORRIBLE (5" straightpipe), transmission SUCKED, had good power but I wouldn't have one of those POS trucks to 'keep' (I traded another truck for it)
2005 F350 6.0/automatic, all stock, drives great and is fast, but with a trailer behind it I am not too impressed, better than a stock 6.4 maybe?

I currently own a 2003 6.0 Excursion, 4" turbo-back exhaust, tuner, on the 60hp tow setting I would much prefer the 7.3/6spd over the 6.0. The 6.0 is FAST (for what it is), but towing a heavy load the 7.3 does a much better job.

I towed a 36ft enclosed with a buggy, ATV, dirtbike, etc out to KOH and back in 2012 with my F-250, and I will say the truck didn't bat an eye. Wouldn't win any drag races while pulling, but it was a strong truck and I miss having it, just couldn't fit a carseat and a dog in the backseat.

This thread made me think of this song...

That video reminded me why country music sucks. Sounds like every other country song. Have there been any new songs come out in the past 30 years?

Did i mention I really hate country music?

Was the regular maintenance done on the truck that was test driven? Doesn't matter the make or the engine of the motor was not kept regularly service it will all go to hell and can greatly affect the performance. Being a HEUI injection system the oil quality make a big difference, HPOP output psi if weak(low psi) will absolutely kill the power output. Many things come into play but the HEUI will never produce the grunt the Common Rail offers, Dodge/Ram or Chevy.

Wait wait wait. Tacoma.. tell the story right...didn't blink an eye. Werwnt you broke down in Arizona or someshit?
Or am I miss remembering?
(Very possible I'm on beer 12)

And all you jackasses are talking half a story. Rear end gears, transmission choices and tire size make more difference thanmotor tbh.

BTW Shawn you forgot to mention your chips tunes etc. Go drive a stock 06 with 3.07s and tell me how bad ass the ctd is.

But no doubt its got more ass than a 7.3 anday.

go on....

(iirc 3.55 was tallest for 3rd gens...somewhere 3.42 came in.... 3.07 was 1st gen)

ok point taken.
BUT....by the same token if we are comparing a 3.55 against a 4.1x there is going to be a significant ass dyno adjustment.

Yea Ron it broke down in AZ, but that was just a clutch, that apparently couldn't handle the massive 7.3l power :)

The center section of the clutch actually broke, clutch itself was technically fine, the steel part in the center broke. I think it was somewhat common on the 6speeds after 100k miles (mine had about 105k at the time)
