A**hat driver

Here is a situation I find myself in occasionally. A line of 5-10 cars and trucks are in the right lane. My pace is slightly faster, so I am passing the group using the left lane. Next thing I know, someone is behind me 5-10 feet off my rear bumper. I continue on with my pass at my set pace (usually have cruise control set), then move over to the right lane after finishing my pass on the group of cars and trucks. This occasionally elicits mean stares from the bumper riders as they go past me after I move over. I’m going to finish my pass at my pace though. I am not going to speed up, or stop making my pass and try to squeeze in between the line of vehicles I am trying to pass.

/\/\As long as they are passing I never worry about this type of situation. I run into people getting over and pacing traffic b/c they are turning left in two or three miles, then they slow down to get into the turning lane.

How long does it take you to pass those 5-10 cars? If we're talking 30 seconds or a minute and you're clearly making progress, no worries. If we're talking 5 minutes...

I despise it when I'm doing 10-15 mph over in the left lane coming up on some cars in the right lane with nobody behind me and the person behind all the cars in the right lane decides they need to pass them before I go by and proceeds to pull into my lane right before I get to them and go about 1mph faster than the other cars.

I couldn't agree with you more.

Isn't there a rule that you're supposed to pass cars going at least 10mph faster? Not sure where I got that from, but I think about it every time I'm on a 2-lane dashed line road behind somebody going about 3 mph under the speed limit. In order for me to pass them, I have to break the law.

Technically you aren't allowed to go over the speed limit to pass.

I think my buddy has worst Road rage ,He has spin someone out going 85 shot them though the woods. seen him once slam on brakes when a car was to close when it hit him he slammed it into reverse and back ed up on there hood and drove away.
I have shut down i85 and punch through a window on a car that was trying to run me off road . all because I was doing 75 in the fast lane and he wanted to go faster, But those days of being mad are gone , Now I just sit back and laugh and live longer
This is funny as hell bc we have the same friend. Jon downplayed this just a little bit. When he says spun out, he fully means tactical pit maneuver at 70mph. When he says shot them through the woods, he means launched then off an embankment, airborne and then hit the woods!
I was also in the truck when he backed up onto the taxi drivers hood. Mt pleasant sc....going around a traffic circle at warp speed some taxi driver in a minivan tried to pullout, gave Bret the finger and was talking shit, so he let him pull out them slammed the brakes, put in reverse and backed up on his hood, then we were on our way. Jon and my wife were in a vehicle behind all this

exactly my point. So unless you have 3 miles with which to pass them, you either have to be patient and stay slow, or break the law. Frustrating.

Yeah driving in concord/kannapolis is annoying , if speed limit is 35 they got 28 if speed limit is 55 they go 45. 90% of the town has pointless medians that serve no purpose or a solid yellow line with 5 miles of vision in both directions.

I would overtake on the left at your cautious pace regardless if they guy behind you is on your ass. All it takes is one dipshit that can't check his mirror to pull out of the line and cut you off. Too fast and you hit him making it your fault regardless of speed. Too slow and the guy behind you rearends you as the car cuts you off. You know have enough time/room to slow down and avoid collision while the guy behind you slams into the back of you making it his fault.

Not sure. Definitely not 5 minutes. I would guess maybe 1 minute on average.

The longer you are in the other lane on a 2 lane road the longer your in danger, i say hammer down and pass like a man.
