where have you seen a price? was it in that deleted thread?
If true, that is WAY too much.

10 4. I was confused as all the info RatLabGuy posted said 2015 on it. 1500 is ridiculous....especially with no cash payout. I mean damn even Ricky Bobby does cash payouts i think....havnt talked to him in a looooonnnng time, and im married so i do not attend his events. Too many hoochie mammas that would get me in trouble!
 
$1,500 entry fee is WAY too high.
 
I have talked to scot on this. I do know i have helped secure 2 custom shotguns for the winning team. There are many more things in the works also

The dates are confusing. What is posted on most of the links is a press release, which for some reason they put IN the release, the date of the release - which was in august also - not the date of the race. Date of the race is Aug 11-13 2016.

So they have a whole year to build it up. Based on that, I'm not surprised there isn't much posted yet, few sponsors, scant details, etc. It will all come in time. I'm also surprised they would put anywhere what the entry fees are already since they could, in theory, be offset by whatever sponsors show up in the next several months.
I'm suspicious that entry fee will come down considerably, aside from that this sounds really cool.
 
Snappy & ratlabguy don't get me wrong it does sound like a fun event. I think 1500 is really high for any kind of race no matter really what the prize is. I think the cost will have a lot of people saying its not worth it. I would consider racing if it was a more reasonable entry fee. But the details on what is going on during the event is really vague, but ya they have a year to get the details worked out
 
They are selling the experience, not the competition or the "race". Given what I know about the old triathelons (spelling??) this will be a blast. It will take a good bit more than the entry fee to be competitive. Prep, a good copilot and strategy will win the day. And if I am guessing right a Damn good bit of thinkin and problem solving skills. The old events where land navigation, wheeling, trouble shooting, equipment test, camping, canoe courses, and trap shooting all rolled into one.

Reminds me of the Bronco possie that went to Africa. They aren't on hear much that I know of but if you knew the right group you know who I speak of. Oh an that other legend with the last name of Mosely.:beer:
 
Knowing Scott and JPE, they will have a great event if it's anything like the FL triathlons they used to do in the 90s.

Both can pull some sponsors and good prizes. Back in the 90s, entry fees were sub $200, but this seems to be limited to just 30 teams.

Anyone remember the Sea to Shining Sea rally? Was $$$ to enter but sold out to 20ish teams and the winner took like 50% of the entry fees, like $15k!

If like to see more info from Scott on this.

just out of curiosity, will there be a back ground check. i recommend it so that the organizers arent putting themselves at risk of a felony. be aware of the lautenberg ammendment, there are more things than just felonies that will disqualify someone from receiving a fire arm.

transferring possession of a fire arm or ammunition to a restricted citizen is a federal felony. and even handing someone who is not allowed under federal law either ammunition or the fire arm itself is a felony.

This guy truely understands what this event is! Its not a race as much as a quickly solving they issues presented to you...

Yes they will be presented a certificate for the winners to pick up there guns at the local gun shop that protects the promoters from any legal issues.
 
BFG was promoting this in full force at Dixie Run. John P. Eller, Scott Fields,BFG and others will have a first class Safari Triatholon type competition. Same thing they did in Florida back in the 90s. I think it is pretty cool that it's happening at URE. I hope to become involved in some capacity.

Agreed. As I posted in the mysterious deleted thread, "I've known Scott for a few years now. I trust him about as much as I trust anyone. Were it not for that trust I would be beyond skeptical at the way information has been disseminated about this event. being that I DO know him, I am just assuming it was a poor communication job and will watch and see what transpires."

In the grand scheme of things, $1,500 x 30 entrants is $45,00 gross.
Pay out a true ad campaign, a small staff, some logistic costs and all of a sudden you have a years work for a months pay.

Cash payout,prizes to the winners,sponsor list....these are not typically the driving force behind the competitors sign ups.
Although prizes,sponsors, and money may be a part of it you should look at this like a Tough Mudder or Spartan type event. Folks pay good money to run a course,jump in mud, crawl through electric probes etc..There are no cash prizes for those type of events. Only medals, ribbons and self confidence.

If you don't even want to race, deciding what an event should cost to enter shouldn't be on your list of things to do either. Sorry if that sounds rude, but it's a fact.
