Didn't see that coming. Gander Mountain's dead

Not surprised I've wales in to the store on a Monday left with two hundred dollars in ammo and a very nice shotgun for half price

I never buy from GM they're too high. The last four guns I've bought have come from Bud's gun shop in Pigeon Forge. From what Ive seen they eat everybody's lunches on gun prices.

No surprise. It was quite a gamble when they bought Overtons and Herters & Dunns and it seems to not have done very well.

Wonder if they will close the Overtons in Greenville along with the distribution warehouse and the call center. Local rumors have it that the call center was one of the major reasons they bought
Overtons.

When I had my boat I got a fair amount from Overton's. Water toys, life jackets, and so on. Didn't know they were affiliated.

Completely off subject except for Robs mention of a distribution center, I'll be driving by REI's in Pennsylvania tomorrow and man how I'd like to have shopping spree in that place!!!

REI is mighty proud of their merchandise.

But the 20% off sales (even clearance stuff), and 10% back on retail price stuff makes it a little more bearable. My favorite is the return policy. If it's something I'm not sure I'll like I get it there. Bought a GPS watch, used it about 6 months and found it to overkill so brought it back with no issues.

This.
We buy all of our running shoes from them. When they wear down/out with 6 months, we take them back for a full refund or store credit.
Can't beat that at all.
Most of their goods are of such high quality you get good value for your investment.

Check out the REI garage sales if you're a member. Stupid cheap prices on things that have been discontinued, returns, factory samples, and damaged items. I ended up with a $600 tent that they said was messed up for $50 and couldn't find a thing wrong with it other than whoever had bought it was a dumb ass and couldn't set it up.

99% of the B&M stores are way overpriced. Especially Cabelas and Bass Pros. I know they have more overhead than online shops but buying power should keep prices moderate. Maybe if they'd spend less on huge aquariums and tourist attraction type displays.....

They're having a hard time competing with Academy sports. I admit I go there a lot.
When I lived in Davidson NC I used to shop the GM in Mooresville at least once a week. Bought my last 6 pairs of Merrill's there.

REI only warranties stuff for a year now. Just FYI...

I think I like the "idea" of Gander Mtn, and went in a number of times, but I've never seen a deal there. Probably why they are going under.

Sounds like it's your fault they are closing.

Went in Gander Mountain after church today. Even with 10-30% off of most stuff, it was still overpriced. I bought a silica can for the gun safe for $18 because it was there, but I could have got the same thing for about $14 shipped online. There were a bunch of people in there, but not nearly as many buying stuff. No sales on firearms or ammo yet. Tents were 5% off. Really? 5%? And they wonder why there are going out of business?

My wife is big in to Dept 56 Christmas stuff. The local Hallmark shop was closing and she went in on the last day to see what was left.Everything was 75% off and she told the lady if she'd do 85% off she would take all that was left. She agreed and Tonya got about 13K worth of Christmas stuff for around $2500.Weve tried that before w other store closings but that was the first time it worked.
